Liu Wen

Apparently the actresses shot the VC20 cover earlier this week but interestingly, there’s no buzz around the models who are supposedly a part of. There’s been lists of model names for the past few weeks but all were INCONSISTENT. No official lineup that is known or leaked (to my knowledge and from the insiders that are on social media). A little worrisome. Hopefully there are some models.

Not to dwell too much on this but some are saying it’s “okay” for Liu Wen to decline VC20. *If true. As if she’s too good to be in MG covers (a valid point, when was the last time she was in a model’s MG Chinese cover?). Or her stature has extended beyond VC and on to better things a la VUS, VF, and potentially VUK… srsly, those were their spicy words.

Anyway not liking how VC has been delaying/changed their cover releases further out than its Western counterparts. Supposedly, we shall see the cover(s) preview soon.

Wonder if it’s by Nick Yang but elevated.

She’s either on W China or Marie Claire for Sept. Most say it’s the latter.

Most of those bolded brands’ campaigns are released/known, and it’s starting to look slim, like their cast doesn’t have space for more models – basically not sure where Liu Wen would be amongst those known casts, as more images/info are revealed one after another.

We now know that Givenchy is not OG. It’s possible she could get that, perhaps the strongest chance. People are thinking it’s Burberry but who knows seems unlikely to see her back to back. Not happening, but it would be cool if Liu Wen, Lina and Sora got Tom Ford as the Asian group and a trio of black models. Just a thought. Alaia sounds wonderful. CK and their relaunch with no visibility in ads??, not like Liu Wen will get cast but no campaign for her first collection, will they?… Could it be thrice for Saint Laurent WINTER. Maybe it’s a small brand.

Think the key word was ‘endorsement.’ Wonder if they meant a fashion campaign where she has an active role repping the brand or a brand deal. Maybe she got Chopard(?). A new spokesmodel/contract of some sort.

They made it out as if it was a fashion campaign tho. Regardless, five campaigns for FW25 already sound insane. Surely we’ll know soon whatever that may be.

She’ll indeed be on W China.

And it’ll be her first festivities among local fashion mags – it’s been years since she attended one, tonight!

FALL/WINTER 2025 CAMPAIGNS

Chanel Pre-Fall
(MG)
Erdos (OG)
Versace (MG)
Bull Lights (OG)
Fendi (MG)
Dazzle (OG)
Balenciaga (MG)
Giorgio Armani (MG)
Givenchy (MG)
Peak Performance (OG) TBR ?

Think that is it… for now. Will entertain the idea that there could be more only because an insider is saying Liu Wen will be at the TOP for F/W 2025. Not sure by what standard/metric they based off of. They are pretty credible tho hence why we know what we now know(!). People are still pushing Burberry but I just don’t see it happening now that Lina got it ; not that two top Chinese models can’t get it, just that we don’t often see them cast two high profile Asian models for a single campaign. Who knows. Still think a smaller brand could be in the mix.

Looking forward to more images from Burton’s Givenchy (even if Herzigova/Vittoria/Liu’s aren’t my go to selection).

Forget to add the part where they mentioned it’s a brand she hasn’t shot for(?). Based on what’s left, that only leaves:

Alaia
Calvin Klein Collection
*any advertising?
Celine *Winter collection, or whatever next phase
Etro *any advertising?
Jil Sander *any advertising?
Lanvin *any advertising?
Missoni *any advertising?
Stella McCartney *usually comes later… not as lucrative as it used to be
Tom Ford *any more models?

Among smaller brands aren’t mentioned here…

Was hoping it would be Hermes, Max Mara or Tom Ford. Oh well, maybe next time.

They are still insisting Liu Wen got Burberry too.

Somehow I’m worried about the fashion audience’s reaction to this lot of Liu Wen season. TBH this should’ve happened earlier like 10 years ago, within them one or two only-girl campaign, to cement her dominance. Anyway it’s a spectacular season for her and only thing she needs now is top covers

^ Both you and pollyanna90 highlighted valid points. As others have expressed those sentiments too.

Additionally, we need to consider the times, the zeitgeist (model trends), her management/career direction, thus the jobs she was offered or went after (or had to), her aspirations, her contractual obligation/stipulations that could’ve prevented her, and other factors (not an editor/photog/designer/stylist’s fav, visa issues, competition?, agency prioritizing certain models, etc.).

This can be explored deeper, but I digress. Will say something important later regarding her FW25 season.

Whispers are saying a preview of VC20 will be teased tomorrow/weekend, then cover(s) released on the 25th. Unconfirmed. The suspense (whether it will be praised or dragged down and inevitably compared to previous years, as if it hasn’t begun already)!

There should be a Part 2 for W China with Nadine Ijewere coming out later.

Marie Claire China Sept is still possible…

Why care about the audience’s nerves? The best always draw the sharpest fire, and this time it’s simply Liu Wen’s turn. What I admire most about her is that she just does the work, no noise, no gimmicks. The results speak for themselves, and all of this comes naturally when you’re that good.
