IF you spent last week coveting Victoria Beckham's oversized padlock bag, and lamenting the reported £3,000 pricetag, we may have hope for you.
Stuart Vevers, former creative director of bag specialist Mulberry, has designed a bag for Loewe which has the same desirable slouchy shape, the same jumbo padlock, but which lets you knock the last zero off the price...and then some.
Vever's original Calle bag, which arrived in stores for autumn/winter 2008-09, was executed in the most luxurious materials by the Loewe craftsmen. The new vinyl Calle looks to be a fun and urban version of the original. It comes in clear tinted vinyl combined with five different napa colours: yellow, blue, orange, green and red and will retail at £250.
So far so good; fashionable, affordable - so what's the bad news? A limited, limited edition of only 10 pieces will be produced and sold exclusively at Dover Street Market. Words fail us.

Definitely a no to the vinyl version! I can see the virtue of this bag in leather/exotic skin...though I wonder if the padlock is removable?
