It certainly is evident, that London is producing some very interesting Menswear of the moment...

It has come as a real relief to myself, as I've been finding it harder & harder with each season to find what I really want from menswear...I've been pretty much limited to Raf & Kanya Miki over the last season.

First out the hat, Omar Kashoura (http://www.myspace.com/omarkashoura)

currently stocked at prominent boutiques such as 'the shop at bluebird', London & 'Addidtion/Adelaide', Tokyo). Some incredibly fine creations & beautifully made shirts.

Second in line, Carolyn Massey (http://www.carolynmassey.com).

Maybe not quite as practical or wearable as Omars line, however very well engineered indeed with some desirable pieces.

Radar H, who were previously featured here on the fashion spot, don't know a great deal about the line or designer, same agency as Omar. Carried at B-Store, looks great!

Licentious by Michael Ellis (http://www.myspace.com/licentiousclothing).

Some truely gorgeous knits & t-shirts to literally murder for...a few pieces have found their way into my closet. A favourite with 'Le Shop', Stockholm.

You can't really tell how things will develop for these four, however I think Omar will continue to expand. None of the four mentioned are cheap, by any stretch of the imagination, however I'd rather make an investment in one of our home grown, than throw my money away to...well...Dior Homme et al...

thoughts?

OH! Thank you! I'd never heard of these designers, and I like some of their work. Not quite my style, but menswear is in desperate need of something new!

Thx very much for introducing these fellas to me
Please bring us more new names in the menswear world

Oh Michael Hellis has some nice accessories :P It's neat you can't really tell what some of them are... There is one that kind of looks like a pendant of a an old weathered wine bottle w/ maybe seashells

Oh, what a simply exceptional idea for a thread!

I really admire Omar's juxtaposition of structured tailoring and almost "frilly", effeminate embellishment in the jackets and shirts, really promising.

Not too keen on Massey's work so far(though I don't know it well so maybe I shouldn't judge so speedily), it's not the lack of wearability as such, it just seems a little superfluous, in a negative way...nicely stylised pix though.

As for Licentious....
"decadent... debauched... deranged... stylishly disheveled. stumbling through the piss soaked alleys of London town"...just for that I <3 them.

yea Dust, Licentious is a big favourite of mine...it's like a dash of modern dishelved dandy...with a hint of 'I don't really care about how I look, but this is so comfortable'

I failed to mention Aitor Throup, his menswear was available down on Brompton road, at the Library for a while, I think it was his graduation collection. (http://www.aitorthroup.com) It's not something I'd wear myself, however it was an interesting take on the mens Parka coat, manipulated in correlation with a particular social influence, created a real paradox within the line.

What's slightly more interesting, is the fact that none of the above (all be it Radar H showing at B-store), showed at London & opted across shores to Paris. Speaks volumes about the current state of London.
