Louis Vuitton In Gym Class

How do you know that these girls think they are the sh*t for having a fake bag? Do they brag about it? Maybe they just are self confident...
Yes, they brag about their bags. And they are the furthest from self confident. They have to have some of the lowest self esteem ever. The fact they are carrying around fake bags and thing just because it has the designer's name on it makes it any different from a bag from tarket. People with self confidence find it in other ways besides what bags they are carrying.

So not true... lol give me a break... the topic of bags ..being fake or real has never come up in all my years of hanging out with diff people...I mean Ive met some ppl who were full of it..but it wasnt b/c they were sporting a fake bag.

Btw you didnt have to mention "modeling" nor your trips to "milan" in your post... even though you might have real bags..it makes you no different.

I understand where you are coming Missy, and why you would get the impression that you did but I really don't think this post is about that. I think it's more about girls who derive their popularity and self-confidence from sporting a logo or designer, even though it's fake. I'm not sure if i'm making sense here or not but I don't think taylor's comments were biased or egotistical or anything. It depends who you are around, whether or not they will talk about fake bags.
*is seriously thinking she is not making sense*

Missy44x - Ditto

These must be little school girls that would be bragging. I think some people buy fake bags for several reasons -

1. because they cant afford the real thing
2. They see no justification in the costs
3. Are not thinking of the ethics behind the bag
4. Aren't into fashion, so it means nothing to them.

I bought a fake LV last year in the Bahamas, because it was practical for me at the time. it was the Musette (large), i wanted to be hands free and my other bags simply weren't. What surprised me the most out there was the amount of Americans that kept on asking me where i got it from( I was tempted to say "Bond Street, London"). Obviously knowing much more than i about the fake bags that were being sold on the island. I must admit i would have thought they were the real thing, if it wasn't for my very close friend that told me they were fake. I have loads of designer bags, NEVER once had i looked at my self and thought that i was better than anyone else, because of the clothes or accessories that i wear. I just LOVE fashion and style and respect and know myself - I MAKE THE CLOTHES LOOK GOOD, NOT THE CLOTHES MAKING ME LOOK GOOD!!!!

I must say since coming onto this website and reading all the things people have to say, i have learned that Fake bags arent good and would NEVER buy another Fake. If i could not afford (God forbid that happening) a genuine product i would rather save or simply do without. :flower:

Mehg I understand what you are saying...but I dont think its good to brag wether you have a fake or real bag..

And in a previous post..but I will repeat again...

Buying a real bag or fake bag renders too much importance in this society, fake bags exist for the same random reason real ones do. Wearing a label which carrys prestige and importance in this society basically says "I am better than you because I can wear and afford this, but you can't ha, ha"...When your importance will never be measured by the bags or clothes you wear...

I agree with you OGG about the fakes but I think that some people DO think they are better because they buy real bags (or fake). Buying a designer item puts you into an exclusive club that not everyone can join. Having designer items gives off the appearance to the majority of people that you have class, taste and wealth. It's about the impression it leaves on the majority for some people, more than the actual item itself. Thats why people think they are better than others when they carry designer goods or dress in designer clothing. :ninja:

Sorry, I didn't mean to start an argument on here. I just think that ridiculing someone for not owning a real LV is mean, especially since there are people out there who can't even afford a decent looking bag that they could bring to a job interview. I have some no name bags that might be similar in style to a big name designer bag but unless the bag has LV or Hermes on it then I don't consider it a fake. Those who carry the dooney bags could have easily spent their money on an exact LV replica, so I don't think they should be put down for buying a no name over a fake.

As for the popular girls in school, they'll always brag no matter what. I'm sure that every single girl who was picked on by that group would have loved you for life if you had exposed their bags as fakes in front of the whole class.

I never metioned "modeling" or "milan" unless they were to ask me about it. Therefor, I would never be accused of bragging.

Yeah but Almost Famous making fun of people who are clueless about fake or real designer bags is similar to supermodels making fun of regular models who never make it past Japan or Milan. I like you modeled with Chicago Elite and started in MIlan. and its no big deal just like its no great deal what bag you have.

I thought that Milan was a good place to do modeling... most "models" find hardly any work at all so Milan is good accomplishment.

taylor never seemed to be bragging about her modeling. people here seem to be truly interested in what she does. if her modeling somehow relates to what someone posted, then it may make sense for her to post about it. if people here werent interested in what she does, then i doubt she'd be talking much about it. besides, this IS a fashion board, and what she does IS fashion related.

also, people DO act like theyre better than everyone else because they have bags with logos printed on them. maybe not people youre around, but ive seen plenty, and i think its ridiculous at times. my mom is like that. girls in high school were like that. now, girls i know in college are like that. i will never understand it, and i usually ignore it.

it's interesting to read people's opinions here

I only buy real bags, I hate fakes and it really annoys me when I see people carrying fakes, and I don't like people bragging about their bags, no matter it's real or fake.
and if I couldn't afford a real bag, I wouldn't even buy an inexpensive but real copycat, I'd go for something no-name but got their own look and style.
that's just me.

and I don't think fake bags exist for the same reason as real ones do.
people may say that no matter real or fake, they are only bags used to carry things. but to me, it does make a big difference.
the nice real bags out there, they are existing because of their quality, craftsmanship, material, history, and because of people who understand them and appreciate them. and why do fakes exist? I don't think I need to say more

I almost always buy no name bags. I'm not a huge handbag person so designer bags don't really appeal to me anyway. Funny thing is, even though I buy these cheap bags I still get compliments on them.

I loathe fakes. The companies that manufacture them disgust me. Come up with your own design! Get your own monagram!! (Here I go. Once I get started on "Designer Inspired"....)

And the people that buy them are just as bad. Yes, I agree with whoever said that some people can't even afford a decent bag, period, but this is not the issue here. If you have fifty dollars for a handbag, and you want something fairly nice, get a Liz Claiborne. They are very classic, un-logoed and sturdy. BUT, that's not what the people are looking for. They can't use "I can't afford a nice bag" as an excuse. They want to look like they spent 500+ on a Vuitton, Gucci, whatever... however, they didn't.

There is this girl at my school, we'll call her "Ginnifer". It is a widely known fact that Ginnifer's mom sells knock-off handbags. For Christmas, she got many of her friends white "Louis Vuitton" bags... and said they were real. Yeah, right! I had the opportunity to examine one.. it was so cheap it looked like it was going to fall apart in my hands. It had an leather-looking lopsided BOW on the front. I laughed alot when I got home. The recipients of these bags actually believed the Ginnifer had spent several hundred dollars on each of them.    As much as knockoffs disgust me, if you really step back and look at it.. it's funny. Funny, funny, funny.

no offence, but have you ever been to high school? the way most girls gain confidence in high school is getting with guys or having nice stuff and braging about me, TRUST me, its my situation right now.

oh and ps. im new

I own all types of bags & I have to admit that I own fake LV bags as well as real LV bags. I bought the fake b/c I could not afford the real thing. If people ask, I say it is fake. Living in NYC, knockoff bags are all around. The quality of a authentic LV bag is far more superior than a fake. I say it is up to you wether you buy a knock-off or authentic bag. Authentic is definitely better.....Do whatever makes you happy B)

durin the summer i gots myself a fake jean paul gaultier wallet... merely due to the fact that i wanted a nice real leather wallet.... and i was at the nigth markets with my mum... n i just asked them to show me a nice black real leatehr wallet.... and it happened to have a huge jean paul gaultier metal embossed strip accross the side... didnt make me want it... the fact that it was real black leather... n had that almost orgasmic smell u get from new leather goods.... (like horse but in a higher class)

when people look at it... n go o wow... thats soo cool... o wow... thats so nice... must have cost you loads.. im like no.. it was 50p.... and they are like how did u manage to get it for that cheap... and i am like its fake... the sales assitant in kokon to zai i forget her name sandra or sarah or maybe soemthign totally different she is german and has these earigns i want... well she kept going on about my wallet.... just goes to show :yuk: doesnt matter if its real or fake to me... :ninja:

Amen! This is exactly how I feel! We are on the same wavelenght Purple!

i don’t think it is nice to make fun of people with fake or imitations because it is just mean to do to their faces - calling them out even if they are bragging... i am just not wired that way..... i don’t like to make people feel stupid even if they are snobs. I will however notice fakes and make mental notes to myself and even laugh about it or point it out to my hubbie!

i also don’t think taylor was bragging -she was characterizing those girls and her description painted a perfect picture - I know those types or I did when i was in high school (10 years ago) and they will always exist....

Amen to this too Lele. Kindness and politeness are more important than style.
