Louis Vuitton Menswear S/S 2023 Paris

Just when you thought it couldn't get more try-hard and tackier than Virgil's collections...yet here we are. Looks like the design team woke up and chose chaos.

My only thought during the Livestream is those poor models have to walk a long runway wearing too many layers under that Parisian heat.
What's the deal with brands that presented collections that feature too much outerwear, that is more appropriate for FW. Who's wearing a trenchcoat or leather jacket during the summer.

The show was too long, the band performed at the beginning wasn't necessary but at least it wasn't overshadowed by the clothes. The soundtrack is good tho.

As for the collection, it's the usual Virgil parade of streetwear with questionable tailoring mixed with OTT decorative details that have been over-intellectualized.
The fact that the absence of the man himself and the studio can still produce the same collection, makes me wonder how much time he spent time designed at LV?

I hope this show is a conclusion of an era because I think it's time for LV men to create its next chapter.

Dear THD96,

Please don't ask why they're showing FW clothes in a SS collection. I asked that question once, and was given an 8-page essay about why this makes sense. You've been warned.

I love how the team is SMILING about the fruits of their labor.

Just think about us seating there with the sun hitting us during the show. It was very hard to focus on the collection as we were just burning.

Overall, I think it was a pleasant collection with some beautiful pieces among terrible gimmicks. It was really a show in a sense of being entertained.

While the show was going, I had to ask myself how long they will do collections about grieving Virgil... He was definitely loved by his team which is touching but it is also time to move on.

I was surprised to see Nicolas Ghesquière attending the show and Delphine Arnault super chic as usual !

Going into it knowing that there is no official CD, maybe my expectations were low but it's not terrible.

There are some nice pieces but it's just that the collection is all over the place and as if they didn't have a lead in studio giving direction. Seems like many designers were given a section.

It's a bit messy but there are some cool pieces throughout. There's not much difference if Virgil were still alive, I think it may have been a bit more focused, is all with no so many ideas happening at once.

Some things actually look luxe and high end for once. I would buy a few things if my wallet could afford LV RTW and i'm not sure i would have with Virgil's propositions.

Time for Martine Rose to get in there and work her magic.

That would make a lot of sense.

This is a goodbye collection put together by the team... so this is exactly what one would expect.

Debating its merits, judging if it is good or bad.... a bit pointless, no? We all know it's not good. It was never good.

This collection is symbolic. It's a press release. Vuitton is paying its respects so it can move on and set the next designer up for success.

That’s a lot of ugly/weirdly fitted clothes for one show!
I mean it’s terrible. Those are the kind of clothes you wish to see your worst enemy in…

She should give him the position already. It’s not like he is not dressing men already. And a lot of men are actually buying LV womenswear…

. The soundtrack is good tho.
Kendrick Lamar sat next to Naomi in rapping, a very interesting idea for a musician to perform.
Another interesting aspect of this fashion show is that so many people were sitting in the first row.

Mixed feelings here...in one hand this looks like Vuitton through the eyes of 7 y.o. children...but in the other hand, it looks like a bunch of graduates from (insert expensive and famous fashion school here) creating their own "visions" for Vuitton as a class exercise of some sort.

Did they desing the collection using a ouija?? Just asking!

this had no voice imo. not like vuitton menswear is supposed to. but this felt hollow. but a few pieces were lovely! but i am in the boat of thinking this was a terrible waste of resources.

This is so much worse than I expected. All that 'talent' and this is what they came up with....

Time to stop this farce, it’s overindulgent. As for the clothes, I don’t find them bad, there are nice pieces here and there.

it started well and then it got really messy. the coats look amazing. that’s all.

Does anyone know who the model is with the long black hair and dark purple trench coat? Thanks!
