Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2023 Seoul

rather see him do menswear than pre-fall collections. However, these days i already associate louis vuitton with clothing and not just the bag/leather goods image they used to have before nicholas term so whatever he is doing must be working.

Forced is a little bit of a stretch because Nicolas around 2012-13 was the most sought-after designer at that time, so I don't think he was struggling to get a job offer. Even without the messy breakup at Balenciaga, his joining the LVMH was only a matter of time. I mean Delphine has always been a close friend and his most vocal supporter.
Joining LV means fixing all of the frustration that he has at Balenciaga. He has supporting bosses that handle all the business decisions and give him full creative freedom to express himself.
When I mean forced, I mean as in the only choice he could make to protect himself from Kering.

I think that shift in perception comes from the fact that a lot of Ghesquiere's earlier collections actually arrived in stores. Even some of the showpieces are available for purchase at times.

I don't remember seeing such complete merchandising with Marc and Kim. Now I mention it, Virgil's collections weren't very well merchandised either...

I do appreciate he keeps this under 50 looks. We all know how long it could be these days. I don't mind pre-collections to be very commercial and products oriented. Also, gotta give it to them for bringing back the Almas.

How long will we remember this collection?
Thirty seconds? A minute? Two max...
I really, really do not get the enthusiasm for his work at LV: at best it's passable, most of the time irritating, especially if you are a fan of Nicholas and remember what he did at Balenciaga.
I see in his LV stint the choice of a middle-aged designer who - whether for realism or cynicism I don't know - has made peace, so to speak, with the corporate world and just goes with the flow...
There has not been one bit of challenging spirit in his work for ages now, everything, however well made, just reeks of window dressing, soulless product, in a word: stuff.

Very beautiful!
Rumors are that Natacha joined back LV at pre collection. I can definitely read her sensibility here and it feels very very welcome
ALSO, RUMORS THAT with or without Natasha, this collection is so old fashioned and booooooooooooooring
