Louis Vuitton S/S 2023 Paris

its margiela's doll collection but through the lens of Vuitton! I kinda like it actually, really fun bags.

I could do without those boots and the smocking, but it's such a strong collection! The silhouettes are great and the oversized detailing was a nice touch of humour, even if it was borderline Margiela slash Moschino. I loved the look on Sora, it may be actually my favourite look from the whole season.

Typical fanfare from Nicolas and it's consistent so honestly I can't complain. What I dislike is always issues with some of the styling and general look of things, but obviously that is down to my taste. This is also how you do an outdoor show too so take notes M. Williams.

My favourite too the moment I saw it. Maybe not so much the season but it tickled a nerve in the right way. Such a supple dark leather in such a sweet silhouette I wanted a little more of that energy throughout.

I do weirdly like this but for the sake of a more costume context. Some of these would sit right in with a modern re-edition of The Andromeda Strain so I do struggle to see a lot of this in the real world. Still has great craftsmanship but would like the extremes to be pared back a little bit.

it's really a funny collection. Loved the energy, the «i-don't-give-a-damn-attitude. the strange «Alice in Wasteland»-playfullness paired with the aggressive walks. The XXXL-Zippers are fun too.

I don’t understand his afffinity for those chunky boots. Not only are they ugly, they ruin the proportion of the looks.

And again, MAS’ (she still does the styling, doesn’t she?) styling is still a major issue. The clashing of patterns and textures on looks with pants is too much (the biggest offenders are looks 39 and 40). Speaking of pants, this really is the season of questionable pants all around.

Other than that, I love his proposition of transforming leather into this mixture of 60s femininity and futurist extremity (look 28, 29, and 33 are my favorite embodiments of this proposition). Aside from those, I’m particularly lusting after the coat from look 22. If it were styled like his F/W 2014 collection which was an ode to bourgeois dressing (by losing the boots and abysmal stocking), I might have found the best look of the entire fashion month.

Yes Nicolas! That was quite a coup de force!
Love the presentation, the rythmn and the energy of it all.
Obviously he has fun at Vuitton but this is maybe the most « fun » collection of his career. The fact that he supersized the elements of decoration or function in clothing (zippers, button, bets) added a kind of silly, light-hearted element in a very strong and decisive collection.

Very self referential of his Vuitton collection but still quite coherent with the resort. He has made variations of his best seller sneakers. Those shoes are not my cup of tea but I think it worked for the show and the collection.

I will of course try to get my hand on the beige trench-coat with the oversized buttons but I’m curious to see how all of this will be translated into commercial pieces.

Weirdly I’m very attracted to the jewellery which is not a category I usually care about when it comes to Vuitton.

Great show and very deserved Standing-Ovation.

I love love love this collection! After a long list of dry commercial uneventful shows from brands, it was much needed. I was happy to have someone pushing everyone's limits and tastes. It was fun, it was twisted! A lot of beautiful pieces and some other really ugly but I don't mind a bad taste from a designer when there is fun behind it.

The mix between the french bourgeois codes, his obsession for the 80s and the over-complicated intellectual styling from MAS worked for me this time.

I still need some time to digest the collection, but I don't see it as a particularly negative point. I appreciate how NG questions the definition of good taste. There are some really strong pieces (coat from look 22 is amazing indeed!), even though the styling seems to be all over the place.

I love it. This is how you close fashion week.

I like that he is going all and pushing his taste even further. He always finds the perfect balance between good taste and bad taste.
When you have confidence in your vision and the suits are happy with your results and your contract is renewed you can have fun and create a collection like this.
He presented the most experimental ideas in a very commercial collection. All the best-selling items are covered but he always added different details because he seems to be the only one right to remember that a fashion show is an "exercice de style".
The laser cut and trompe l'oeil effects on the clothes are so good. And the oversized details added some great sense of humor to the collection.
But the stars of the show for me are outerwear. They are so good. I'm obsessed with the coat on Mika. And look 41 cardigan look so comfortable.
MAS styling is wonderful this time. She stripped down her layers tricks and unnecessary details and let the clothes shine this time.

Nicolas continues to never let me down.

The lace section between look 18 and 21 is a delight and I'm sure those will translate to a few stunning red carpet looks. Quite a surprise finding these in the same collection with all the following looks that rely heavily on the mega-sized hardware that add nothing but gimmick to otherwise basic garment designs...

Farewell, the *WORST* fashion (four) weeks ever!

The fashion is (anyway) dead, long live the hype and social media influencers who will do all the "dirty work" for wh*ring designers at the most prestige fashion houses, giving their last drops of blood, sweat and tears, trying to convince you next February - given that you even live to see it! - that this very garbage, which we had the opportunity to watch in the previous month, is the origin of the best, the most innovative and the most ingenious pieces of clothing you have ever had the opportunity to see in your life!!!
