Lover

From what I can vaguely remember, I think they're between AU$250-AU$350. But I'm not too sure (never really looked at the prices of the waistcoats).

:flower:
Thankyou titania for the prices! karma ^_^:flower:

Wow! I love it! Very refreshing. :D

And the models? They have curves? Figures? They look wonderful!

In Australia, cheapo skanky shop Supre is copying ALOT of Lover's collection and it's pissing me off.

the new SS07-08 collection, including swimwear!

i am curious to know what you all think

I'm afraid I didn't have the patience to deal with their website - I only looked at the first five images and it just takes toooooooo long for the picture to render, then I'm disappointed that the clothes don't seem to be worth the wait. Sorry.

I love it but not as much as the other collections :)

I'm disappointed because their designs are no better than your average chain store. Everything they make has been done before - all i'm seeing are inferior copies of marc jacobs/byblos/sass&bide/list goes on. I'm really tired of Australian designers trying so hard to emulate the quirky/cute aesthetics that have already been done to death in past years.

One of the things I don't like about Australia is that it is a country that encourages mediocre design. Where are the concepts, the relevance?

Yeah, techically you are right. But on the other hand -even though I'm from a different country, a different continent- I gotta say these Lover guys are pretty inspirational and successful in what they do. + They are young. Communication is a very important part of fashion business and we all know it's not just about the garment. They are telling a story and they do it in a good way, which is not easy..

i admire the lover pieces i occationally see in nylon.
i wish they would do a diffusion collection for target or another american store.

I still love Lover so much. I think that the walk the line between ethereal and rock 'n roll better than any one else out there.

I totally agree and I'm Australian! My favourite Australian label is Perks and Mini (PAM) who are more streetwear I suppose but they have an eclecticism and playfulness which I adore. But apart from that, there just isn't much happeneing in Australia fashion-wise though Frederich Grey looks like someone to watch.
There's is just something so bland about Australian fashion a lot of the time. Nothing new, hideous styling and ugly patterns. No one is playing with fabric or making anything with conceptual depth or conviction. Everything is so 'pretty'.

OMG! A Lover thread!!!

why has this thread been so neglected? Living in NY at the moment I really miss Lover, I think their "untitled" s/s 2010-11 collection is beautiful.

I absolutely adore this clothing line!
It is an Australian label by Susien Chong (formerly of Zimmerman) and Nic Briand. I love how their main colours are black and white (but not always!), and they add interest with cute, quirky details. It's edgy but chic in my opinion...I'll post the pictures I have on my computer (from www.loverthelbale.com and www.vogue.com.au)

From 'Black Magick' S/S 2006

So beautiful...a fan here from here onwards :D

is this label bigger now?

the brand still isnt sold in any stores within 200 miles of me.

whats the quality like?

I have a few dresses and a blouse by them and they are all beautifully crafted, I've worn them for a few years now and they've held up perfectly. The price tag is high, but the quality of the fabrics and tailoring, coupled with the fact that they are a small label still, makes it justifiable to me. Plus, their designs are timeless.
