Meet Luisana González: The New Face to Know From Louis Vuitton

When a model stands out on the Louis Vuitton runway, among supermodels, pink-haired girls-of-the-moment, and a host of other surprises, it’s safe to say that she’s something special. This morning, Dominican stunner Luisana González did just that: Sporting dark lips and voluminous curls in the show’s second look, González had the star-studded audience wondering, Who’s that girl? First appearing during Nicolas Ghesquière’s Spring 2016 show, González has been on exclusive with the brand ever since, getting to develop her skills as a model in what may be the world’s best training ground. For her part, González finds the exclusive experience thrilling. “It is marvelous! Nicolas and the Vuitton team are incredible,” she shared via email, immediately postshow: “I will forever thank Nicolas for this opportunity.”

Much has been said about the rise of Dominican models, and González’s success is a new part of the Dominican wave’s next phase. Represented by Ossygeno Models (the agency behind stars like Ysaunny Brito and Lineisy Montero), González got her big break via the agency’s modeling competition, tying for first place with Montero back in 2014. Since then, she has been steadily gaining momentum via her work with Vuitton. And being in Paris doesn’t hurt: “I fall in love with Paris every day,” says González. “The streets, the food, and the architecture!”

When she isn’t on the catwalk, González admits to enjoying the simple pleasures—friends, family, and trips back home to the DR. Even her beauty routine is refreshingly down-to-earth: That glorious mane stays picture-perfect courtesy of a few tips from Grandma. “I have many secret homemade recipes that my grandmother taught me, like avocado with olive oil and coconut.” Even with her easygoing personality and laid-back vibe, González is looking forward to one very glamorous Paris Fashion Week moment—those famous Vuitton after-parties.
