'a house is not a home' besides being one of the best bacharach interpretations ever [and a staple of 'quiet storm' romantic soul radio] was also sampled last year by the rap/r&b hit 'slow jamz' by kanye, twista & jamie foxx [!].

the phrase 'are you gonna be/ say youre gonna be/ are you gonna be/ in love with me/ well well / well well' in that song's hook was taken from luther's improvsation at the end of his 'house' version.

I couldn't believe it when I heard it. The day before he died my friend and I was talking about the BET Awards and I said I couldn't wait for Luther Vandross to come out and thrill everyone with a comeback. I heard he was doing well, had his good days and bad days. This is so unexpected. I used to listen to his greatest hits album every morning while fighting rush hour traffic because he had such a smoothe, calming voice. He will be truly missed. R.I.P.

It still hasn't totally sunk in for me that Luther has passed away.

What a wonderfully talented man. He has left us with great music that will stand the test of time.

Prayers and thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans.
