HI ALL :flower:

For those gentlemen in the UK with access to the limited number of MARKS & SPARKS ( SPENCER ! ) stores who stock the AUTOGRAPH range , check out the new saeson's range of stone-washed , pre-creased jeans ! B)

They are AWESOME for the price - £49 !!!!! :P

I bought a pair , yesterday !

Recommendation indeed !!!

Regards KIT

have you got a pic of those jeans.
i would love to see them.
i know ther autograph collection and they are not bad ;)

I bought a pair of silver wool trousers in M&S very similar to Dior Homme yesterday...I'm not a cheapskate... :innocent:

Sorry , I havn't a photo . I've just gone through the webpage , but they are not there yet .

All I know is that Marithe et Francois Girbaud did exactly the same style , last year , and they were just short of £200 ! at the Girbaud shop in Perpignan !!!

Oliver Sweeny is a shoemaker , who makes both conservative AND edgy shoes . He designs the autograph range for Marks & Sparks . He has now branched out into leather jackets and belts , VERY nice ! , and he has a shop within a shop in the new Harvey Nicks in Manchester .I've actually got 4 pairs of boots in different styles from the FIRST autograph collection in 1999 . ( NOT boasting - just trying to emphasise that they ARE GOOD , ESPECIALLY FOR THE MONEY - like the Autograph jeans ) . I actually had a Christmas card from Oliver ! ( They took my particulars when I bought a belt at the HN shop , last November ! ) .

I saw your silver-grey trousers , yesterday , Prince of Cats , in the Handforth Dean branch - VERY posh ( portside -out , starboard home - British Raj-speak for upper-crust ! ) .
Are they the ones with a patterned lining , nice and wide , parallel , with flap pockets ? Very nice ! CERTAINLY NOT cheapskate !!!

Incidentally , the top button on the dirt-wash version of the jeans would just NOT come undone , once I'd got them on , as the buttonhole was so small . I had to be prized out of them by the floor manager !
Some like it hot , but not THAT hot !!!

I actually bought the stonewash version as I really am a size 30 , and Autograph sizes don't go below 32 , but I uncovered a pair made rather small and they fit a treat !!!

Phew !!!
I've gone on enough , but one always wants to share , when one has found a bargain !

Yours KIT B)

For various reasons , which I won't go into here , you'll have to make the trek !!!

Hope the tube is NOT in its usual disarray !!!

BTW , I bought the Autograph combats in olive and in beige , last October .

According to Dylan Jones of GQ , they were also to be had in navy elephant cord .

I haunted the Wilmslow/Handforth Dean store , every Friday , ALL autumn/Winter , but they NEVER appeared .The cotton ones are ABSOLUTELY super , with ALL the authentic trimmings . PITY the navy elephant corduroy ones were never made up for the stores .

Still , I bought a packet of M&S lamb sausages with mint , each time I went , ABSOLUTELY SCRUMPTIOUS , so it wasn't a wasted journey each time I ventured there !

I MUST emphasise that I DO NOT work for M&S , so I'm NOT advertising !

Regards KIT :innocent:

Is GQ any good? I thought it was all just softcore p*rn.

But anyway...I saw three M&S items in December Vogue  That's more M&S than there was Stella McCartney...

I have a quick read of it , in the supermarket !

The Dylan Jones article was in the ' INDEPENDENT ' , and was put up on a card in the Autograph section in M&S !

I may be a bit late to dig this topic up...

...but you have no idea how much I envy you Brits who have convenient access to Sweeney's shoes. They used to advertise quite heavily in mags like Arena Homme Plus and ever since I first saw the ads I've fallen in love with his designs.

Too bad they aren't distributed in North America, at least as far as I know. I've actually never seen the shoes in real life. Looks like I'll have to plan a trip to the UK if I really wanted to get my hands on his shoes. Smedley sweaters and Sweeney shoes - these will be on the top of my shopping list. B)

He has a great website with his entire collection on display:

I'm actually from Stalybridge in the Pennines - I can see Alderly Edge and Jodrell Bank from my bedroom , the WHOLE Cheshire plain , in fact !!!

If you've read any of my early posts , Vivienne Westwood was born just around the Longdendale hillside in Tintwistle/Hadfield ( of ' The league of Gentleman ' fame ) , notoriety indeed !!! ;) ;) ;)

If you come frrom Alderly Edge you must be REALLY loaded !!!!
The house prices are horrendous , but it's soooooo exclusive - NO pikeys or scallys for ' The Cheshire set ' !!!! :yuk: :yuk: :yuk:

Regarding Oliver Sweeny shoes , if you search THIS site :-

http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/Forum/default.asp

You will find that the ' REAL BESPOKE CLOTHES BRIGADE ' do not have a very good opinion of these shoes , being rather ' sniffy ' about their NOT meeting their exceedingly exacting standards !
