I'm not sure if I placed the thread right but I couldn't find other place:unsure:
If not here then, please, mods, move it to the right one:flower:
I want to give my om a present, some nice make-p things like powder, blush or lipsticks:heart: She is 56, fair skin. But I'm not sure if make-up products which can be applied to young skin are looking the same on mature skin. What can you reccomend? The brands I want to choose from are: Givenchy, Chanel, Guerlain, Lancome, Clinique, Clarins, Shiseido, Estee Lauder, Helena Rubinstain and YSL. That's all we have here:(. No more. Usually she doesn't buy such expensive make-up for her. You know those moms:D They are always save on themselves:blush:. What do you think? Any opinion would be appreciated:flower:
Oh! And I'm going to spend about 100$ for it (to give the limitB)).

Make Up Tips For Older Women

  • Use a stiff bristled brush and blush to line the lips rather than a lip liner pencil that helps your lip color to stay put longer and prevent it from bleeding or feathering.
  • Use loose translucent powder with a powder brush only once in the morning to set your makeup as reapplying it again and again can accentuates lines and wrinkles. Use a fluffy brush alone for the touch up.
  • Use a highlighter to de-emphasize jowls (the lines from the edge of the nose to the corner of the mouth).
  • Use a non-frosted powder under the chin to de-emphasize saggy neck. Choose a shade slightly darker than your natural skin tone.
  • Frosted eye shadows can actually make you look younger but be sure that you are expert at handling them properly. Use the lightest shade under your brow, a darker one close to your lashes and the darkest on the crease and blend them properly.
  • Be soft and subtle in the choice of makeup and colors for the youthful look or get professional help!
  • A foundation with a lighter-textured base that matches your skin tone is a must.
  • Use concealer generously to cover up any aging lines or blemishes.
  • Use cream blushes in golden almond and copper tones and blend them gently from cheeks to temples in an arc for a soft transparent effect.
  • Blends of pink and gray eye shadows soften graying hair.
  • Use a soft eyebrow pencil that matches your hair color and never ever use black eyebrow pencil.
  • Use soft matte lip colors in pink, berry, coral or peach shades to make your lips fuller.

It seems to me that you can go one of two ways: either buy her products to help take care of her skin or some really fun, colourful things that she might never buy for herself. Here are some ideas I had:

Chanel Exclusive Creation: Pink Lame
Stay a step ahead with the latest Exclusive Creation from the Makeup Studio in Paris. PINK LAMÉ is a highly original eyeshadow that reflects the intricate beauty of lamé, weaving together three opulent layers of silky powder in gold, silver and pink tones, forming a radiant shade of rose.
It's so cute, the eyeshadow is created to look like the classic Chanel tweed.

Givenchy are doing some excellent pallettes at the moment, of eye colours, lip colours as well as lip care and eyebrow grooming. Two of these might be a good idea, giving her a wide colour choice, plus they're very compact and easy to carry around for touch ups during the day. You could make a little set of the Baby Lips lip care set, with some lip colours.

I've heard that Clarins is best for skin care, as opposed to make up...so here's where you might want to pick up some indulgent treats! Some good things might be Age Control Hand Creme, Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm, or moisturiser, a mask, body creme, scrub...TFS is the perfect place to find a recommendation for any of these products! ^_^

I looked up all of these on Sephora.com...just to give you some ideas. I looked more towards sets, and little gift packages because that's what I would do, give my mummy a chance to try out a few products at a time to see what she likes. Regardless, I'm sure she will love whatever you buy and truly appreciate the gesture.

What a good ideas! I mostly like the one about Givenchy's products! And I also was thinking about Clarins skincare by myself yesterday!

My pleasure delerith, I hope you find what you're looking for!

I think the Clarins hand creme is a good idea ... I've been wanting a hand cream with sunscreen myself, should've started using one years ago ...

I would go half and half skin care & color ... Chanel blush lasts forever, that might be a good choice ... and the Chanel compacts are so pretty.

First of all - thanks to everybody! Yesterday I went to beauty shop and tried to choose... I found Givenchy's Babe lips - wonderful present! I want it for myself too :-) Also tried Chanel blushes in Tea-rose (irrielle blush). Also tried new Lancome Color fever lipstick - great texture and colors! But there were to little testers available :-( I'll think about it also... In fact I want to choose something here and place an order to strawberrynet. It's cheaper and the choice is better!
