ok, let's face it ladies... there are times where we probably don't want to spend $18 on an eyeliner or $19 on lipgloss, whether it be because we're pressed for time or we just don't have the extra money for it.

Sooo... here's a topic, have you come across a pretty good look-alike of your favorite eyeshadow, lipgloss, lipstick, mascara etc? Of course they may be not official imitations, but you know, they probably look and perform close enough to the real thing

Here's one of mine:
Origins Liquid Lip Color in Caramel Candy = Rimmel Lip Vinyl in Eastend Snob

Anyone else?

Once someone asked me if my nail polish was Chanel Vamp (I hadn't heard of it because I do not follow Chanels nail polish colors THAT closely) it was Sally Hansen. I usually wear Sally Hansen nail polish when I wear nail polish and I've noticed that it holds up really well as long as you put on base coat and top coat and redo the top coat every second day. I honestly haven't used more expensive nail polishes much. Are they actually better?

Usually they can be. I wish I could say I've tried Chanel nail polish and found it's totally worth the $16 pricetag, but I can't say I have. Would love to though--I've heard good things about it.

OPI Nailpolish is a great brand to start off with. It's twice the price of what you would normally get at the drugstore, but fully worth the couple extra bucks. I found in comparison, OPI nailpolish tends to hold it's "just-applied" look. I'm a big fan of their shade "Kennebunk-Port."

I had my toenails painted that shade this summer and 2 or 3 weeks into the wear, it still had a that fresh look and minimal chipping.

But usually, a really good topcoat and a really good basecoat will do the trick and make it look like you spent a fortune on a manicure a bottle of nailpolish

i dont know if anyone knows about BOURJOISand their varnish is great as well!!!

oh I've heard of bourjois, but I didn't know it was made by chanel. cool.

I know it too , it like L'oreal and Gemey price range.

They have some good stuff

Rimmel Vinyl Lip in Clear $5.98 is similar to MAC Lipglass in Clear at $11

Cover Girl Cheekers Blush in Natural Twinkle=NARS Sin
L'Oreal blush in Charmed Peach (can't remember the type!)=NARS Orgasm
Revlon Vixen=Chanel Vamp (well, close enough )

Just discovered another one:

Jane Fabulizer for eyes in Suede= Clinique High Impact Eyeshadow in 07 Sunkissed

i know this isnt exactly a look alike...but when i was at MAC, they told me their eyelash curler is EXACTLY like shu uemura

its just a bit cheaper in canada...i paid 20 smthing for my shu curler, i think MAC is under 20...

Really cat?! That would be great if true because I can't get Shu Uemura in Ottawa.

Can anyone confirm this?? Stoo, SHP?

yeah, the mac girl told me they're manufactured at the same place...and are made exactly the same

Prescriptives has a gloss in a tube that looks similar to Lancome's Juicy tubes

Usually they can be. I wish I could say I've tried Chanel nail polish and found it's totally worth the $16 pricetag, but I can't say I have. Would love to though--I've heard good things about it.

Chanel has THE BEST nailpolish! It's one of the only brands I will use. It dries quickly. VERY quickly and it doesn't chip on me.

I have Vamp and the next color down, Sorceress (sp?) they're both really pretty reds. But their lighter colors are nice too. I love Satteliete. It's a pretty beigey color with little glitters

For those who like sticky, shiny lipglosses but don't want to pay the price of MAC lipglass or juicy tubes try NYC kiss gloss. They're about $3 at the drugstore and they're awesome, best bargain ever. I have the cherry one and it's a beautiful, sheer red with a hint of flavour. Also, covergirl has improved their colour selection of eye enhancer shadows to include funky shimmery aqua green and other bold colours that you would normally only find at the MAC counter.

There is this Gap Lipgloss thats pink and is exactly like Lancomes Juicy Tubes, but better. Much more wetter and less sticky. Perfect Shine, Tint, and Taste.
