I'm sure the pale trend will compensate Soft, at least, that's what I hope

I'm so sorry, but... what on earth?

Source: Post #1 of same thread

Really, my head is still reeling from trying to figure out whether that's an unusually hairy-backed pony, a distortingly large dog, or an uncommonly long-necked buffalo on that lightning rod (dip-dyed?) pink dress with a drop-waisted polka dot ra-ra skirt.

....

 But then again, maybe it's just me...

the top with the bunnies/mice/small furry creatures from the bottom left picture in the first post is neat

It looks over the top, but I like it. Most of it clashes together, but piece by piece it makes for interesting separates (and a definite conversation piece for the wearer) when paired with jeans or neutrals.

^ Agreed. Individually it's alright but together it's like someone binged on crayolas and threw up.

some of the pieces are nice, like i could take a dress there, jacket here..and mix it with my normal clothes. but when they put it together like this its like an overdose of colors and different things...makes it look crappier and messier than it is.

I like a great deal of these items, individually, of course. No question there's a lot of fun to be had here.

Hrmph.

I'll put in a good word for you anyway, perlefine. -_-

I think a lot of the pieces can be worn separately and look nice, like if you were to separate the skirts from the whole dress.

I like the first skirt on the right column (in fact, the whole look is nice)
in post #2 and the last one on the left column. And I like the 4 skirts in post #3. They have very pretty designs and colours.
The second one in the left column of post#2 is also funny :D

If you look at it in terms of shape, sillhouette, it looks quite nice too. I really like some of the collars (the collars which cover the whole neck and collar bone--shaped like a pelvis).

I'm saving some of the pictures already... ^_^

hmm as colorful as it may be.. some of this can look good when toned down.. i agree with faust on that note... manish arora is a media wh*re back in india.. but i must say this has to be the best i have seen from him..
when looking at indian designers.. i think the only person that hits my mind as eclectic is saybasachi mukherjee... india is great for producing garments with elaborate handiwork.. i think manish is trying to use that potential..

"indian bernhard willhelm?" lol.. thats very far fetched..

what i meant was not the fact that the clothes dont evoke bernhard... but that manish cant be compared to someone as talented as bernhard.. i dont see manish anywhere near when it comes to innovation.. this just seems like boho kitsch color mash:ninja:... plus manish arora is a celeb fashion god in india.. everyone looks to him.. and i dont like that hype...

i dont know if u know droogist.. but in India, with fame and connections like Mr. Arora, u can literally do anything... and think of the kind of fabric resources they have and the printing facilities...they will make so much more profit than say someone wanting to do the same in europe.. so its all a plus game... but i dont see him using the potential India has well... but then again.. i think hes having a laugh by showing in london.. hes got his key base..and makes enough and more money in india with his label and not to mention the bollywood contracts...which is where he initially started.. hes also a celeb stylist.. believe it or not..( i dunno if any of you guys have had the pleasure of seeing his personal style:ninja:)

i think its about time we had a specific thread on indian designers non?... not that theres anything groundbreaking happening there but i think the rest of the world always has something to learn from a new place... but dont count on the designers over there that do "western" wear as they say... cos its boring milanese inspired kitsch garb...
:flower:

Thanks for clarifying, new dawn fades. All I've ever seen of this designer's work were these past 2 collections, and I was actually under the impression that he was a "new" designer, so your post was educational. :flower: (I could have guessed at the Bollywood connection though...^_^)

A new thread sounds like a great idea - I think a lot of us tend to associate India strictly with the production end of fashion, so it would be quite interesting to see more examples of its creative output.

I like this a lot! It's not practical, and I don't think it would work in 'real life' but as a runway show clothing/'art' it is perfect.
