Manolo Blahnik

Since it's quiet, I would love to share the story of my favorite Manolo Blahnik purchase.

Two or three years ago, I saw the Specari Mary Jane on the internet and instantly fell in love with them. They had already sold out, though, so I tried to put them out of my mind as something that would ever be on my feet.

This past summer I moved to Manhattan and I decided to buy a pair of Blahniks for my birthday. I really liked a pair of open-toed red slingbacks that were in the Blahnik boutique, but they didn't have my size. One of the store assistants suggested I try Barney's or Bergdorf's, that perhaps they had my size in red.

I'm not a huge fan of Bergdorf's but I love Barney's, so I headed there first. While Barney's had the red open-toed slingbacks, theirs had a lower heel and not the fabulous 4 inch heel I really liked on that shoe. (It turns out that Bergdorf's DID have the exact shoe. However, I never made it over there...)

But it didn't matter, because Barney's also had the cream Specari Mary Jane that I had fallen in love with so long ago. There was only one pair left in the company in my size and in cream. When I wore them again on Christmas this year, I thought about their story and it made me love them even more.

So (again, since it's quiet) what's your favorite Blahnik story?

My experience in NYC was also funny - afterwards at least.

My suitcase was delayed for more than one day, so I only had the kind of track suit I had been travelling in, no make up etc. As you can immagine I wasn't looking very pretty and I felt very sorry for myself. So I went to the Manolo shop and bought my silver snakeskin Sudy shoes. The SA was so kind and helpful although my feet were smelling since I was wearing same socks as the day before I felt sorry for her too

Did any of you notice that their pumps have been sized larger lately? I used to buy 35.5 pumps and now I need pads for size 35 pumps...
btw I got a pair of retro looking purple pumps from the MB for NM100yr anniversary collection. Will post pics later. Happy New Year Manolo lovers!

Did any of you notice that their pumps have been sized larger lately? I used to buy 35.5 pumps and now I need pads for size 35 pumps...

if so this is good news for us large footers; it only makes sense because women are getting taller over the years and hence larger feet as well; their largest size 42 is still sometimes a big snug on certain styles for a size 11 which is become a more common size

on another note to add some activity to the thread....I just got these on sale...not sure if I love them yet or not though, they could be a wee bit longer as my toes are right on the edge

my only manolo news at the moment is that i finally got a pair of the nude patent ringos! i have been looking for a pair in my size for ages so i definitely high fived myself once i got them!

i love manolos and i wish there were more styles available where i am.

Nice score janal! I just LOVE my black ringos!! Keep your eye on EBay Velony... they pop up now and then at 'reasonable' prices (I have seen them for $399).

i ended up getting them on ebay when they finally turned up in my size. they were less than retail so i was happy with that. i love them! they are quite comfortable and fit really well.

Velony... you will just love them. EBay has a few sizes..38, 38.5 (tempting) and 42 in the rose/nude Ringo, none in black currently, all for $399. Keep looking Velony... you will find them..I will watch for you too.

PS. The 38 and 38.5 are Be-Luxe a fellow tFS'er..she may waive shipping?

Thanks Bella. What do they actually retail for? Is that a good price? I guess I won't find them anywhere anyway. I actually prefer black but the nude ones are ok too. Just hope the 38 would fit me.

Velony... I am not sure of the final retail price. I believe full price they were appx $550 usd. Mona13 has the Ringo in rose as well..Mona do you remember retail?

Anyway, If you find a pair that you like on EBay, ask the seller to measure the insole for you, heel to toe, and compare the measurement to another MB you currently own. That is what I did for sizing as I purchased mine online as well.

velony, if you look in the get it before it's gone ebay thread, i'm pretty sure that be-luxe has posted a free shipping code for tfs members. it's on the last few pages, from memory. as far as sizing goes, i went with my normal manolo sandal size and they're perfect.

Thanks for your help everyone! I just checked back on ebay and it seems like the 38 and 38.5 have been sold. Now there are only two pairs left in 42 and 36.5 God, I wish I would have reacted sooner. Now all I can do is wait and pray that they'll pop up there again in my size.
