Um, since when is she Canadian?
She's UKRAINIAN!
She is a Canadian citizen, just like Daria. Her mother agent is Elmer Olsen Models, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Yes, she was born in the Ukraine. But they chose to move to Canada (yes, her parents too.....and brother, who also models a bit with Elmer) and become Canadians. That is where she lives now (and has for a long time), and when asked, she says that she is a Canadian.

I personally don't think you can just change what you are by just moving to another place. I mean, would you consider Natalia Vodianova British? Or Charlize Theron American? It's your nationality, your ancestry, not your citizenship that counts.
You are missing the point here................we are talking about modelling....say like...when you make a list of where models are from.....Maria will always be under the Canadian list......end of story!

^Yeah, I think what matters is where you were raised, because that's what you would identify yourself as being and you would be reflecting that culture (regardless of your blood/ancestry).

I should like to quiet down the polemic about her actual living place, Mississauga/Canada and Ukraina, her native country.
The most welcome would be the one who could tell what place in Ukrainia? It is a wide country, is n't it?

anything that I have ever read on Maria just states that she was born in the Urkaine. Immigrated to Montreal, Quebec at age 5 and now resides in good old Mississauga, Ontario.
