How are Chinese photographers not more utilized in western publications?
Leslie Zhang has at least contributed to Dazed on a few occasions and done the Giorgio Armani F/W 21 campaign.
I don't know if there's an issue with Asian photographers regarding agency representation or contracts preventing them from working more in Europe and the US? Or perhaps it's just more comfortable for them to work from their own countries?
I was anticipating that Zhong Lin would be everywhere after her breakthrough Perfect Magazine issue last season, but she's kept a very low profile besides shooting the Etro campaign. I need her to come through to the big leagues right now!
As far as this issue goes; yes it's a lovely cover story, especially given that Cong He is such a wonderful model. However I feel like I've seen this painting concept done to death at this stage, and I already liked what Michael Thompson/Julianne Moore did with "La Grande Odalisque" and Meisel/Saorise Ronan did with "Ophelia", so those particular remakes here leave me cold. I like the Magritte interpretations the most; very fresh and eye catching.
