and the fact that it was ALL tube dresses make me dislike this.
they're not tube dresses.....they're hobble dresses.
i know there's a fetish subculture for the hobble dress/skirt, and they will
(probably be the only ones who) LOVE this, but let's be honest....no one will buy this.
stores will more than likely request these dresses in mini or knee length. they wouldn't look so bad then, but what's the point of showing it this way on the runway? it's not that striking and doesn't make an impact or a statement other than one that's bordering on misogynistic. the heels were super high too, they looked about 5.5" when shown in profile in the video. yeah, i'm all for high heels; they make a woman feel powerful and confident, but i don't appreciate things like this that are debilitating to women. they should be able to strut confidently and be fierce, not hop along behind everyone else at a snails pace.
this also makes me think of when suze menkes(? i don't exactly remember if it was her or not), bashed stefano pilati's s/s 07 collection for ysl when the models were in high heels walking through a bed of flowers, saying that it was demeaning to women. i don't think so. that was amazing; the collection was lighthearted, fierce, the models looked amazing. it was nothing at all like this (and at least all of those looks were wearable!!!)
ok, with that said..... i'll get off the soap box now.
