Matthew Ames F/W 09.10 New York

I was there shooting this on video...happy to post it if people are interested, just needs a quick edit.

egh how pretentious

he started out with sportsy menswear with stuffed teddybears and 7 years later hes doing this....

incredibly uninteresting

is that true?^ can we still see his old stuff ?

would love to watch the video, shatterkiss !

shatterkiss, thank you SO much for that. gorgeous! i was completely mesmerized.

thank you!

he should totally be the one to revive the Vionnet brand.

oh i see what u mean..^ like this sort of hard edge petal shaped sleeves and silhouettes
and harlequin motif..
i still remember those,
i guess these draped things are a different kind of geometric shape

gius, most of his early collections are on his web site-

http://www.matthewames.com

yeah i still prefer his geometric sensibility.

I guess he's still working with geometry. One of the PR women at the show explained that all the pieces are simple circles, squares, and triangles when laid flat. His approach is very Issey Miyake. Matthew said he also tried to use as few seams as possible. The richness comes in the fabric (cashmere corduroy!) and the finishing on the inside (which I didn't get to see). Certainly Samuel and Sybille's penchant for the late 70's and early 80's has led him in this softer direction, which personally is where I think everything is headed.

do you mean issey-like with using few seams? ^
