Matthew M. Williams - Designer

sales are bad so lvmh isn't going to invest in couture, i wouldn't be surprised if they're already hunting for a replacement

It’s insane to think that Givenchy’s Couture Atelier has only made Redcarpet dressing so far. I guess, given the endless postpones, that he is not involved in those Redcarpet looks…

They failed by trying to mimic the Virgil Abloh formula much like they failed years ago by mimicking the Galliano/Dior formula by hiring McQueen.

I hope that he learned at least 2 things in the Atelier!

They really need to nail the next appointment. The quick turnover is hurting the brand. They need a visionary to shake it up. But then, how many big brands can actually exist?
They needs to hire Haider Ackermann! Period!

I think Matthew M. Williams would've fared better at Givenchy if he came after Riccardo Tisci since it would've been, more or less, a continuation of Riccardo's successful formula. I believe that part of the reason why Givenchy is in the state it is today is due to the abrupt repositioning that happened in the last 5 years. It went from, in general terms, "streetwear-edgy-couture" (Tisci) to "classic-ladylike-couture" (Keller) to "industrial-streetwear-minimalist" (Williams).

Same sentiment. As much as I love CWK’s couture she killed whatever momentum the house had. To go from one of the most hyped brands to being irrelevant in the zeitgeist in three years is a feat. Matthew could’ve been an Anthony Vaccarello-esque appointment. Riding on Riccardo’s foundation first then slowly evolving things.

Another reason for me to love CWK. The demented sadist Couture fanatic in me thrives when streetwear designers fail.

They basically survive and thrive in doing bridal (so beautiful!) and also custom designs for the clientele who often go for reinterpretation of archive Hubert de Givenchy pieces. The bridal looks are exquisite and the fabrics they have on offer are extraordinarily beautiful.

The clothes are all over the online shops, they are a special kind of vile. It was fun two years ago with Balenciaga x Simpsons, especially with the special episode and with Demna's background, an Eastern European fascinated by the Western pop culture growing up. But Disney's 101 Dalmantians x Givenchy, who the heck approved this ? It reeks of desperation.

Can this guy get more embarrassing?

THAT is a good idea.

Although I wonder why things didn't workout with him at Berluti (which was kind of like a really good version of Williams's Givenchy now that I think about it). I wonder if the bridge there is burned.

Now Disney adults can participate in "fashion" too. Very inclusive.

Is there a formula that all these companies follow

gucci - Mickey Mouse etc
balenciaga - the simpsons
etro - kung fu panda (this one really was just .)
Givenchy - 101 Dalmatians

Or I get the purpose of mainstream fashion houses are just to be corporate money cash grab sh*t holes now but like pls pls pls pls could you do SOMETHING that doesn't make me wanna die lol I gotta get away I need to just stop subjecting myself to this stuff jsdjsdjdsjksdkf
