Matthew M. Williams - Designer

I know it would never happen, but I'd love MGC to be moved to Givenchy and someone new be placed at Dior. I mean I'd love it more if she was retired, but that would also do.

Am I going insane or were the shark boots not designed by Riccardo back in 2012?? What success of Matthew's? :ninjas:
I believe that he re-released them earlier this year, probably to cash from the Tisci nostalgia. Just like how the Voyou bag takes advantage of the Balenciaga controversy (similar style to the Cagole).

What will probably be Williams' last red carpet work for Givenchy:

If he indeed designed this, then he definitely knew at that time that his contract wasn't being renewed because there was no effort at ALL being put into designing this. I know its just a pre-fall collection and all but its so dour and uninspiring.

it needs a strong, powerhouse designer with a unique, exciting point of view. it needs to be someone with both remarkable technical ability and an extraordinarily creative imagination. the magic ingredient then is an expert merchandiser and marketeer, who can distill their ideas into accessories and leather goods.
Someone at the LVMH head office is thinking the exact same opposite.

Delphine chose Clare, it did not work. Alexandre suggested Matthew and it did not work. At this point I’m afraid of which one of the siblings will push his favorite.
There's 5 of the Arnault spawn: Delphine, Antoine, Alexandre, Jean and Frederic. Delphine is the oldest and will probably (hopefully) inherit the company, unless Bernard would rather have a son as the head (could be a good inspiration for a Chuiri collection) so she probably had the most say. Delphine and Jean seem to be more purist in their tastes for designers, while Alexander is more of a hypebeast. I imagine that Jean and Frederic would be more similar to Alexandre, but who knows? Maybe we have a gay fashion fan who's trying to revive their fuzzy memories of Galliano's Dior in the mix.

Wait, does Jacquemus really got the job? People are hyping him on CN social media.

Because he posted this picture on his personal Instagram:

He did say numerous times that he didn't want to work for another brand. Maybe the contract and job description was just too good to refuse: high salary, huge resources and full creative carte blanche.
on god i will f*cking hang myself if jacquemus gets it.
Maybe he'll dedicate his debut collection to you: Givenchy Winter 2024 - Le Gallianostan

It’s like when he went to Pierre Carson’s bubble palace…
He can’t carry the weight of an heritage brand.
He has said many times that he is not interested. His brand is growing and I think he is clever enough to not go elsewhere…

The reality is that going elsewhere might reveal that beyond the story telling build around his brand, his proposition in terms of fashion is very poor.

And Givenchy needs a fashion credibility now.
