Matthieu Blazy - Designer, Creative Director of Chanel

Meanwhile, Twitter is crashing out over the portrayal of interracial relationships. They're really honouring Coco by calling the ad "anti-white genocidal propaganda from the Jews". I'd post some of the replies here for us to laugh at, but I don't want to get banned.
I spend most of my time tweeting politics, and the world has changed a lot in the past two years, but I don't know if the fashion industry is aware of it. The woke era is officially ended and so is DEI but I have the feeling that those brands have no idea about it which explains their continuation of the woke marketing that people no longer buying into it. Maybe it's time to move on and go back to the elitism that high fashion is all about.

So white ? lol but the biggest markets are not exclusively white to name China per example.

Also your not looking a culturel weight and demographics and markets and popularity contest.

I don't think having mix of different artist and of color is temporary DEI thing as in USA which is a snake that is eating its own tail thing and brands known as well who is shopping and who brings attention.

ASAP rocky is pop culture attention that lily rose depp and her mom can barely get in US and rest of the world , while they serve another part of the machine ...the point is to cover your area´s... it more about that than what color skin or type of music or movie one makes.

it's a chess game everyone has a purpose...... to be same/monolite is not a strong point in survival, biology also teaches us this if you know what i mean :)

Luxury is about quality and craft/highest skill and rarity all nothing to do with DEI or wokeness or US politics.

the reason why i think the pre show video is cringe or wrong is because Asap Rocky is so linked to Riri in the public eye we seen the whole story already played out and he is not a actor that been in many movies to be used to seeing him on screen proposing to another woman.
also engagement ring has nothing to do with chanel brand or coco herself...that & putting the modern woman to be fulfilled because a man proposed to her is not what the statistics are showing is women goals.

There is nothing woke about signing a rich rapper with a multi billion dollar brand.
To me, it typically showcases the end of a successful career. The most classic rap songs were about buying formula with food stamps, because they lived through it and it was sincere. Here we are, one of the best rappers in the 2010s per my Gen alpha son, wearing overpriced, ill fitted garments and giant diamond earrings. This is post success rich people's life which is decidedly not woke.
And don't fall for the bots on social media. We are a mixed racial family. I can tell you that we were much more well respected in the deep south than in parts of NYC. The first time I thought it was a fluke, but no, they were just that kind.

I have never thought race was problem until I went to college in the U.S. As someone growing up and working in different parts of Asia. It is quite a vast continent that people has been mixing with each other for centuries. We have Turks, Arabs, Mongols, Uyghurs and so on mix with each other so we have different looks and skin tones in central asia. But it has never been in the case of East Asia, I can still remember back in the days Japan and other east Asian countries favored eurasian models like those Shishedo, SKII ads even nowadays they always prefer white skins tones. When I saw people in twitter bitching interracial marriage about that chanel short film, I didn't even take it on my mind since I seldom think about this subject to be honest. Everyone has their point and I respect it.

Maybe high fashion nowadays is too pop culture for my liking and too cheap with those celebrities. I don't find them inspiring at all even they can reach everyone from different demographics who worships the brand, so I don't get the strategy of luxury pretending to cater everyone. Like you say, it works so if it ain't broke why fix it.

According to Blue Square, there will be two shows, the first at 3pm (9pm in Paris), the second at 7pm (1am in Paris) and the show video will stream at 8pm (2am in Paris). The show location will be revealed in a few hours.

Not my words though, it is just what I perceive on Twitter of course TFS is another world. When LadyJunon replied my comment, I went to read those tweets and think about how it relates to the fashion industry. That's it and if am offending anyone, I apologize for it. I respect everyone's opinions from far-left to far-right.

This has nothing to do with the Caucasians. This has been the tradition at least traced back to the Tang dynasty. The peasants had to work outdoors, so they were not pale. The rich didn't need to work outdoors, so they were pale. The Tang beauty was pale and overweight - because there is no physical outdoor activity in their lives!

I know that a lot of people like to talk about this as if it is somehow racist, but it was fundamentally a class divide and as of today, it is merely a culture heritage.

People on social media love using this as a racist example which is just another click baity false categorization. After all, calling it racist gets you more clicks than actually digging into the history and understanding what happened there through the years. This is before we dive into the wars over Asia's long history and the resulting tribalism - far worse than an average person in the western world appreciates.

I don't know if you have ever been to Korea or China. It is not just about skin tones and those people really like Caucasian beauty that you can see from everywhere like plastic surgery ads (typical nose jobs) and pop stars looks.

Kristen is still an ambassador? Surprised they haven't moved on from her.
With Carole Bouquet and Vanessa Paradis still being linked to the brand after all those years, she may be link to the brand forever.

Hopefully her style will get better as she ages.
