There were rumors that IMG wouldn't let their top girls walk for shows that wouldn't cast Joan. This was either FW10 or FW09, I can't remember.

But in Naomi's case its the girls choice but in Joan's case its the agency using their power and top girls. I definitely want to know how the top girls at img feel about this and why don't they do the same for the other girls that are not working and they have a lot of those at Img.

it's amazing how people have such negative attitudes towards people based off something they don't even know the truth about.

and not that I care about these silly rumors, but if it was true for Joan about what IMG did, it's possible that they've done it for other models
and if it works, then who cares? God forbid there is a top black model whose agency is willing to back her at all costs

I think because they are grooming Joan as the next top model to replace Lara as No.1 which is odd because there is Freja and Joan isn't even half of what Freja has accomplished.

I think Freja and Lara will move to the icons list at the same time, and maybe even Natasha, so Joan can take over. Or Freja will be next and THEN Joan will move to #1.

But I definitely agree that they are prepping her for #1, whenever she reaches it.

I do think Joan can reach No.1 also Karlie
but then that will still be few years.

Freja is still short of the list to be an icon and thus Freja will be the new No. 1 , to replace Lara. Freja hasn't been in the industry for 10 years thus cannot be moved to an icon yet compared that to Lara , Anja or Natasha who started modeling even locally in 2000's.
Lara is 27 also Natasha is 26 and have experince more and even old models like Anja who is 28 .

Her agency paid their way through to get Joan cast for runway shows and now they must be bribing MDC to get their pet model the 'prestige' ranking on the models list. If they had stopped at like Top 10, I would've looked the other way, but this is getting out of control.

Not to get all Whitney Houston I want to see the receipts, but no one at Models.com gets any money if Joan moves up or down. I've commented before on the amount of unsubstantiated conspiracy theory rife in this thread, but this is starting to get ridiculous and pointedly accusatory. If you want to talk about things getting out of control I would say that accusing two companies of committing what amounts to fraud could be considered out of control. I mean honestly, if you could buy a ranking on the site Donald Trump would come in and buy the #1 slot for Melania and I would be typing this message from my new home in Grand Cayman.

it would be a disaster if joan reach number 1 given her history at the moment. i see dalphe, arizona, karlie and abbey have potential to reach the top because these girls are more well rounded than joan.

i love joan tho i wish editors would give her more eds and COVERS and of course she needs to score a few blue chip single girl campaigns by then it makes sense for her to be #1.

Also, why are people even talking about Joan becoming number one. Did Lara Stone quit modeling or something? Has there been an impact event that wiped out all the other models on earth? I love Joan, but number one is not changing any time soon and I can say that for an absolute fact.

I don't think that IMG bundling in Joan with other models was necessarily racially based and like someone else said, my guess is that this has probably happened with other models. It is juicy information to know, but I don't see it as sinister if they only do it with a very small number of high potential girls. IMG knows quality when it sees it and I can't see them playing this card* unless they knew they had a model who, at best has star potential and at worst is a clothes hanger, namely someone who has a good walk, looks good in clothes and is professional. When you think about it Joan's success is evidence that, if done right and with the right girl, this practice can work out very well for all involved.

ETA:
* Plus I wonder if it plays out as if the designer wants Sasha, Freja and / or Lara then they gotta take Joan, or if it is more along the lines of if the designer casts one or more of the stars from the IMG board then they get a high potential newbie or two for free or at a discount.

I wasn't trying to say that it was racially based, I meant that **if that rumor is even true that IMG does this** that it can't be much different from what they do for other girls that are at IMG.

but sheesh, I generally avoid this thread at all costs so I'm just going to leave it at that
I just really don't like misinformation, especially when other people regard it as fact
