She hasn't nothing like Daria, Raquel or Lara !!
No Contracts & Anna Wintour doesn't like her 4 nothing !! And i think her level is going down season after season!! This season she has only Chanel as a big campaign, the rest? No Vogue Paris, US Covers !! And she had Pop Magazine !! Is that Major? -.-
I'm sure she will never take the N°1 Spot !!
Now no one need the spot, only Lara, probably after 1 year we will know who will take her spot but 4 now anyone isn't ready!!

Anja cant be No. 1. either, No support from US and Italia Vogue. designers who like her are mostly Peter Dundas , Elie Saab and maybe Karl too. Riccardo Tisci does not lke Anja Rubik

Freja has support aside from Karl. Major photographers Mario Testino,
Patrick Demarchelier even Steven Miesel , Anja only has support of I&V
the biggest winner for Freja is she is Unique and inspired something of a trend in modeling. !

^^i don't think freja has necessarily started any trend in the modeling industry.
besides, if she had started a trend, then wouldn't she no longer be unique...
plus i don't think her LOOKS are unique, she has a very pretty face, it is her style that is unique.. and i don't think thats a factor that should even come into play

i can't see anyone else who would get number 1 over freja though.. but i think her star is fading.

Freja might be a HF darling & blablabla, but she has 0 commercial appeal & all the past #1 girls had that: Gisele had VS & a whole other bunch of things, Kk had VS, Daria had Lancome, Lara has CK & i believe that MDC takes in consideration the fact that the #1 model should be someone successful with both the HF & the commercial market & somehow i doubt your average non-fashionista people will ever warm up to Freja. How can you be the #1 model of the moment if nobody knows who the hell you are?

it does seem funny ... and it ain't gonna happen anytime soon ... BUT -- if, if, she takes her Tom Ford campaign and Versace fragrance campaign and VS Angel contract and Testino editorials and VI cover and, from those, continues to grow more and more as a high-fashion model ... IF she really stretches herself and gets in the good graces of other people, like Karl for example (who just shot a spectacularly gorgeous editorial with her) ... then she really would be the only one there with that same kinda "Gisele" flair - being both a sexy bombshell and a high fashion darling. i think she has the potential to be MASSIVE. and to start a new trend towards those kind of glamazon beauties from the 80s and 90s. everything gets recycled. all the music right now sounds like the 80s. how many different covers of "I wanna dance with somebody" have i heard this year? haha. fashion is uuuuuber feminine and glamourous. i can see the tides a turnin'. and maybe, seriously - it's just a maybe at this point - Candice could be The One.

more and more threads are becoming unbearbale to read due to members forcing their favourite models down our throats!
even in individual models threads, people complaining that so and so should have opened, closed, worn more than 1 outfit is becoming increasingly annoying.
the whole point of a forum is to be dipolmatic and open to other peoples opinion, its not just to voice your opinion, post the same thing over and over and over again and trying to covert people to the Freja and Daphne cult

I don't think Candice can ever be No. 1
VS is irrelevant to fashion and its all about HF models
she's not versatile. her beauty relies only cutesy sexy look
she needs to do more. let's take like Freja that is chameleon like in her editorials and can convey a thousand different emotions and thus can appeal to broader types of people. I think is part of the appeal why most people are in love with Freja

Candice I think will go down like Doutzen had her success also in HF but eventually will wane down , these trends don't last long ala Ambrosio ,Kerr the 20 seconds of HF fame stints etc. I know fashion gets recycled but should always move forward and set a new trend. presonally I don't want the Glamazon 80's and 90's look as they tend to be overrated.

I'm not saying classic Beauty are not appealing as there have been successful HF models classic beauties too like Natalia and Daria

I have to somewhat disagree on Freja's commercial appeal. Freja's done a lot of work with H&M which many consider to be more mainstream/commercial than HF. Yes, H&M is not enough for people outside of the fashion realm to know who she is, but if Freja can snag some kind of job that propels her as a household name or even gather more online buzz through social networking (like Anja has) - she could definitely be the new #1.

I really don't know who will replace Lara though. MDC is so unpredictable and finicky they could name anyone like Saskia or whoever as the new #1. *shrugs*

not saying that candice is at gisele's level, but to say VS is irrelevant is so naive. just because its not HF doesn't mean its not relevant to models.com.. it is MODELS.com after all, not HF.com

contracts like CK, season by season booking for Prada , Dior etc. will
get you high and get ranked. its always been about HF Modeling.
I think right now they are counting runway shows too look at the models profile

Candice and even Ambrosio were not ranked before it was only when they did high end elite HF work.
I think models like Candice I understand has her dreams of doing HF which is the pinnacle of being an Elite Model compared to
just a VS but I don't think its enough not much support from designers , no long term credible career modeling build up imo,

I don't think Candice really has that "IT" factor compared to the current models or the soon to be new no. 1 Freja btw has done many other commercial work and have been starting a name for herself even appearing in other genres of magazines, music, lifestyle etc.

lol, LiranYana, you have officially ruined Freja for me.
And I believe Candice has lots of chances to become a huge name. Not only because of her recent success in HF world but also because normal people (who have no idea who Freja or Karlie or Anja are, for example) do know who is Candice Swanepoel. In my country people don't care about models, they think about them as some kind of clothes hangers but even those people are aware of VS girls like Candice, Miranda and Adriana. And that says something. I think for a model who takes no1 spot is also important a bigger recognition from a general public. I personally can imagine Candice being a candidate for #1 spot maybe after 5 years or so. This girl has so much a charisma to become a star.

^ I wish I could laugh when I come to this thread, but it's almost unbearable.

I must add that Freja will more than likely become the next No1 IMO, but not for the reasons stated here.......or at least most of them. 'Very high appeal for both genders'......now that did make me laugh I don't bloody think so, what men do you know who actually fancy Freja? She has almost zero appeal to most men I reckon.

Can I also add that models.com is about 'models'.......it gives it away in the name.......so that means all kinds of models, including VS, so can we just put that one to bed right now and VS does figure in a models standing, because guess what? it is classed as work and considering there thousands of models not working right now, I am very happy for the ones who are, no matter how they make their living. So just stop all this VS snobbery.

I want to thank the staff there, yet again, for their hard work on the site in all departments, as they seem to get loads of 'stick' here and not enough praise for what they actually do. And I am not implying that everyone should agree with their ranking systems, as that is the point of this thread to comment on them, but they will never please everyone all of the time.

Although a little OT, I also have to comment on the 'unbearable individual models threads'. Every model cannot get every campaign, cover, or open every show..........how boring would that be. Some threads really are unbearable as they are just polluted with inane speculation and I want/they should/she deserves/ kind of gormless comments.
