yeah - while Raquel is definitely not all that well known outside the fashion world .. it really doesn't matter. because IN FASHION, she's been in the Top 3 working models for nearly a decade. how many campaigns does she land season after season? she's epic. and an icon. no question about it. in fact, she's sorta like the representative ICON of the state of the fashion world over the past several years -- models as versatile professionals without any real public perception or persona.

i have said it before - but i think it's legitimately absurd that KK isn't on the ICONS list. she used to be, didn't she? and she was the #1 model on the Top 50 list for a long time. plus, she's actually famous. not as famous as the supers, but certainly one of the most famous models of the past decade. and not just cause of her VS work. she was doing all the talk-shows and included in "People's 50 Most Beautiful", etc etc all before she became an Angel. over the past year she's had Bottega Veneta, JPG, Max Mara, Mercedes Benz, John Frieda, Macy's INC, Armani Evening, and Rag&Bone campaigns. plus all sorts of random modelly things (like the Richard Branson Virgin Airlines event) and being the international face of Fashion Week. i mean - the girl has really had an eventful past 2 years in the fashion world.

What´s the problem with Mirte??? She got every season a campaign (maybe grabbed lanvin), she is in tom fords lookbook, is in the best runwayshows, a meisel favourite (still in us vogue) still got enough eds. There are more in the top that got less work, like Marique Schimmel etc.

Whereas Coco, Jessica and Lily are these huge stars that get the same recognition as A-list movie stars or pop stars?

^^ but Marique has had great editorial work lately (i-D, V, W, AnOther, Wonderland, etc.) and she's only at 49 after all
Mirte is at 25(!) she didn't get ANY decent high fashion campaign during the whole 2011 and she's so not a Meisel fave anymore (that US Vogue ed had like 8 girls), i'm not saying she has to be removed but she should be at 40-45 imo..

Is just me or Freja isn't doing anything? Her last work was an editorial in Vogue UK October. I think she will go down now, especially without Chanel.

i think it was Freja's decision to slow down because she also skipped most of the runway season except for Paris, she's probably more focused on other things like her charity work, who knows..

she is still booked by Meisel (and yes 8 girls but he could easily go for 8 other models), rumours goes that she and amelyne maybe have lanvin (shot by meisel) so that soo not a favourite, i don't know it sounds not really nice. She is not his top favourite no, but Meisel didn't dropped her or what so ever which he does to a lot of girls who were his faves. Plus she was in vogue US, Vogue Italia , Vogue Japan, Vogue Germany. (they count work for whole seasons right?)

And Wonderland, AnOther can't really compare with vogue us, vogue italia, etc? I'm not saying Mirte is at the right place, but remove her make no sense since she is still in the big shows, got good work and always grab a campaign every season (maybe this season not the biggest but still..).
Though I do think 25 is a bit high, 35 or something would be better. For example Frida should above her.
But to remove.. then people don't really follow her or just disliking her.

Freja for Chloe? huh, such a flop. i can barely see a little CHLOE stuff on Freja. Same situation on Anja. It was a mistake to use Anja to face their ad.

I'm not saying she is the fave, but I don't think he dropped her or something. Ps. it was sept. 2011 for us vogue;-)

I never said rumours count, It was just in the advantage for Mirtes case that she is in not really out of the picture by meisel. I only said it because rumours come from somewhere and since Meisel shot it most of the times.

But we can stop this since we agree that Mirte shouldn't been removed and deserves her spot in the top 50!
As for Freja, a since last campaign was a mg mg mg I really hope this season also. But I&V are more exciting photographers then Karl for chanel so it could be okay.
Karlie should really score something atm otherwise her chances will be slimmer!

So basically the campaign rumors/confirmations so far are:

Joan: EL, Chanel, Pirelli Calendar (MDC counts this as a campaign)
Freja: Chloe
Natasha: Dsquared2
Arizona: Fendi, Chloe
Karlie: n/a
Anja: n/a

I know its VERY early in the season, but Joan's campaign list will be hard to beat IF she scores Gucci, too. Arizona is on fire for a third season, and she is now on Team Karl just like Joan. Karlie will probably get ODLR again, but I think Dior has moved on. If Karlie gets a VS contract, that will drastically change things. Anja will most likely score her Zanotti & Balmain, but she lost Fendi to Arizona. Natasha is confirmed for Dsquared2, but I don't think she is in the race for #1, considering her past 3 campaign seasons. Freja is in a tricky spot right now. I think this campaign season will determine if she sinks or swims.

Putting biased opinions aside, I truly think that Joan, Karlie & Arizona are the only contenders for #1 at this point. Joan needs a big Vogue cover. If she can do that & get Gucci, Chanel, and El in the same season, how could they deny her the #1 spot? Karlie needs more industry support in order for her to become #1. Sure, she shoots alot of eds with big photographers, but she she needs more than just Donna Karan, Dior & ODLR campaigns to take the top spot. With a mega VS contract as well as more campaigns, she will become #1. If Arizona has a 4 season run with Fendi like Anja did, then she might be the top contender. Hate to say that, but its true.

Freja, Anja & Natasha to me are no longer in the race. They all have peaked. Simple as that.
