MDC (Models.com) Rankings

Most of those girls are from The Society and their profiles are usually the most updated, probably because their agents regularly check on them. I mean agencies have access to their models' MDC profiles. Maybe the verified thing could mean that those models can also now have access to update their MDC profiles? And those girls are the first ones to confirm for that or smth I don't know.

That probably is the case, a lot of the verified accounts have bios and measurements in their profile that are recently updated, along with, as stated before, the most frequent updates (the Hadid sisters being an exception, I dont think theyre verified yet but their work gets posted very quickly as well)

And I noticed the majority being signed to the Society too (the agency bias strikes yet again). It’s so weird to me seeing such random profiles (most from Society or Next) have a blue check to them and seeing, for example, Gisele, along with many other notable faces from IMG or from smaller agencies, not have one, but it would definitely make lots of sense if the verification was an indication of models having full access. Hopefully MDC will explain it further

Hiandra Martinez and Slick Woods now on Top 50.

Kaia's also now in the top 50.

Waaay too early. She was still on Hot List when I updated earlier, where she should be for now... regardless of nepotism, her second season just started up.

I think its a bit soon for Hiandra and Slick as well (trying to avoid double posting here), especially Slick. And yes, shes had some attitude rumors floating around her after the Naomi fallout, so it probably isnt the best time to update her ranking for more than just one reason.

Way too soon for all of them. Cong He or even Mayowa should make it before any of them for their longevity.

IA. Cong He and Mayowa better be next.

But I honestly can't at Kaia making to the top 50 this early. And this is coming from someone who actually likes her.
A REACH.

Lulu is also a new addition to top 50... If Kaia is early, Lulu is WAY too early.

Really? Lulu's debut on the runway was earlier, she has covers for Pop, Dazed, VI, Dust, eds in vogue UK, i-D, Vanity Fair, Document, several CK ads and Ralph Lauren by Meisel.

She earned her spot. :D I don't think her making it to the list is as premature and random as Kaia.

Plus, I don't get why people are saying it's too early for Lulu, but they are ok w/ Kris making it...

I think both Lulu and Kris are too early. Yes, the pure amount of campaigns and covers is impressive for both of them and seems to justify their spot there. But Lulu's success has Calvin Klein written all over it as well as Kris' has Prada written all over it. If you take away the CK and Prada campaigns and covers Lulu has two Vogue Italia covers and one Ralph Lauren campaign and Kris has one H&M Beauty campaign that counts for the MDC ranking.

Would they have more by now if they had been free of their exclusivity contract? I guess yes, but who knows how big the impact of the paid omnipresence is on how we all perceive them? So I would have approved waiting one season after their exclusivity contract ended to see how their career progresses and then decide if they belong in the Top 50 or not. Probably they would - but now, for me it doesn't feel quite right.

As for Kaia, she is a great newcomer (not my taste but great in what she has already achieved in such a little time) and a sure bet for the next supermodel in terms of contracts and covers because she's not that bad and her mom is a supermodel and the industry loves that. So I have mixed feelings - maybe they should just have waited until the first Fall ads come out to put her on the Top 50 list? That wouldn't have felt soooo early.

Still don't get why Leila is on the top 50. She literally had zero editorial in 2017.

Probably bc of her stellar showlist and bluechip campaigns/multiple ck gigs. :flower:

Stellar showlist? I agree, Leila would be nowhere without Raf.

I, for one, am glad they are making the lists more dynamic though. Definitely too early for Kaia but at least they're updating more often lately.

The verification tool is unnecessary for such an irrelevant website though.

Well, last season Leila did Tom Ford, CK, Prada, Dior, Valentino, Chloe, Chanel, Celine, Loewe, Max Mara, just to name a few. (I'm sure you're aware of that, since I've seen you visiting her thread ;))
If that ain't stellar to you, then you must have some real high standards.

And let's not act like Raf made her career, cuz she was already on the hot list (w/ big shows and ads under her belt, if u ask me) and doing pretty good for herself even before Raf's debut @ CK. :flower:

Bitterness can make one blind apparently. You might not like her and that is totally fine. But the fact you keep in denial about her success is pretty hilarious.

A stellar showlist is not what takes a model to the Top 50. It's bluechip booking in terms of covers/editorials and campaigns.
Besides her CK campaigns, Leila doesn't have enought of that to guarantee a spot in the Top 50 imo.
