I think a tfs list is a great idea! ponts system based is a good idea, but it would need to be a weell worked out point system!

They decided to add Kristy Kaurova to the list for some odd reason. Higher than Nimue Smit no less. Jacquelyn Jablonski is new at 44 (or she may have been on the list before and I never noticed, either way!). Rianne Ten Haken is new/re-entered at 35. Of all the new girls, I think Mirte Maas should have debuted. She's the one with the most editorial promise and the most likely to book multiple or an exclusive blue-chip campaign.

Kristy Kaurova? Who? Exactly.

MDC also has typos. They call Jamie Bochert "Jamie Bochart" in her little description, and under Kristy's name it says "campaign credibility to bo0t." You'd think they would spell/grammar check these before they officially post them.

well campaign credibility? Definitely she has something big coming out, to explain her debut, happy for her :flower:

an acquaintance of mine and I have been debating about the rankings on Top 20 Icons and whether someone like Isabeli belongs on there over girls like Cindy Crawford and Kristen McMenamy.

that made me think -
how come Cindy and Kristen are not on the list? You'd think they would be considered as Icons.

Im curious to hear your opinions since I thought that this is the best place to ask :)

think MDC idea of an icon is a supermodel that is still working.
in reality everyone knows the real icons are Kristen,Cindy,Linda,Claudia,Naomi and so on...

Isabeli not only belongs on the list, if you compare her to the other girls on the list, she should probably be #3. Absolutely no one on the list works more than her in this very moment, but Gisele and Kate are, well.............Gisele and Kate and should be 1 and 2 anyways.

Not too sure about Cindy, she has been doing more than she's been in the past, but I wonder how long it will last. Same with Kristen. If we were making a list of the most iconic of all times however, I'd EASILY give Cindy the number one spot. To this day, I think her name is still the most synonymous with supermodel.

that's what I thought as well but the person argued that Kristen and Cindy still work and deserve to be there as much as the other ones but I don't really keep up with them so I wouldn't know.

I stopped taking mdc rankings seriously a long time ago but it still annoys me when girls like Sigrid are ranked lower than girls like Chanel.
and it's not that Im on a Chanel-hate train, not at all. I just dont see what she has done for past few seasons that ranks her higher than Sigrid (even if its only 1 spot above )

I'm pretty sure those rankings may be based on not just work but also popularity/celebrity. So, it's not just about being a good model but also a face and name. Some people may argue that someone like Struss is a better model but Bündchen has the recognition models.com seems to be basing things on. It's kind of like FHM's hottest. Those probably arent's the hottest women in the world...but their famous.

Not saying the models making the lists aren't great, just saying that the basis may not be what everyone considers qualifying as the best.

On the other hand, most of the Top models on their list are the ones bringing massive attention. Chanel, Lara, Stam, they’re so everywhere that it brings attention to the industry. That may be part of it too.

Yeah I think so too :D and now Lui Wen is up to No24 and that's some jump and I wonder if something is in the pipeline we don't know about.

Ooh, that's a 20 spot jump! Chanel's pre-fall is in Shanghai, plus she walked for VS. But honestly, being the 2nd most booked girl this season, and the most booked last season, she should have been higher than 44 for a while now...

Can anyone explain to me Maryna way down at 33 while Eniko is 9, they seem at a similar level to me...

MDC's ranking is biased towards high fashion* and Eniko does more high fashion work than Maryna, namely she walked in more shows and did more Vogue eds than Maryna. While Maryna certainly does a fair amount of high fashion, she is more of a money girl. Now what I don't know is how MDC counts commercial campaigns that feature high fashion models like Gap and H&M. Also I wonder if Maryna ever rose higher than 33, because I would have thought that the SS 2009 Dior beauty contracts would have put her in the Top 20/25 for that season at least.

*I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way.

^I believe she was ranked at 25 once, right after her first ed in US Vogue.

But anyway, the new additions confuse me. Hannah Holman, Kirsty Kaurova...are they being presumptuous or is the editorial model really setting herself apart from the runway model yet again?

And Rianne ten Haken is back, hoorah!

I am assuming with Kristy and Hannah's case they are going off of as of yet unreleased work. So big things coming out soon for them I suppose :flower:

God.. there are now 72 faces in their 'Top 50' list. This has got to be the most unique / ridiculous ranking system ever...

The model ranked 6 has 8 faces above her so she is really 9th.
The model ranked 18 has 30 faces above her so she is really 31st.
The model ranked 27 has 43 faces above her so she is really 44th
The model ranked 50 has 71 faces above her so she is really 72nd
etc etc...
How can anyone take this list seriously when the rankings are so inflated/hyped??
and why the need to hype specifically the high fashion models, they don't do this for the "Money Girls" - have a look - there's 25 spots and only 25 faces  !!
Can anyone explain why they do this?

:lol:maybe they should rename it mdc top 75 and then they would have room to add 3 more:lol:

I know right? At least Hannah had a bit of hype and a Miu Miu campaign though. I seriously had to just go check who Kristy Kaurova is, so I looked at her MDC profile. Uh, it's basically empty? I mean come on, the girl is above Nimue who has had two Meisel editorials, a Prada campaign and a nice steady career so far.

Another thing I really dislike is how they never change the little explanations on the list. Lara's reads "one of last season's most spectacular newcomers" for God's sake.
