really hoping to see KK make a re-appearance on the list. i know she's in the "Money Girls" list ... but i'd really love her to be on the "Working Icons" list. especially now that she's come back to high fashion and had such a stellar season on the runway and a ton of recent editorial work.

this past season she had the Chanel Resort, Anne Klein and Elie Saab campaigns. crossing my fingers for something a little more may-juh for S/S 11

Kurkova ? as an Icon ?

I dont think she can be compared to Kate, Natalia or even Daria
who had proven themselves, I remember in the past people
kept insisting Karolina was better than Natalia who has done
amazing campaigns and rose to the top of the icons guess we know
who really is the best of their decade

The only one comparable to Kurkova is Malgosia and she is at the bottom list
so how can she be an icon when even Raquel is out for her league ?

I'm talking about the average everyday person. They cannot tell you who Natalia or Daria are, but they can identify other models (Gisele, KK, Karen Elson). That to me makes supermodel status. High profile campaigns and walking numerous catwalks will not make a supermodel IMO. Going out a doing diverse jobs will get you more face time than landing a Prada/Versace/Chanel campaign (i.e TV, Movies,Music & Victoria's Secret..etc)

KK is way more famous than Natalia and Daria, especially cuz of VS and her recent antm cameo lol. She's done EVERYTHING high fashion wise, she's easily an icon and her name can be spoken in the same breath as Carmen Kass, Natalia and she was big way before Daria.

in my opinion Natalia has more recognition than kk due to her foundation marriage and hf career that's my opinion only
also I feel how liranyaya is being treated on tfs is bullying she is entitled to have her opinion, this is a discussion board, she may have a minority opinion but discussion and dif points of view make this place interesting and some members ganging up on one who is a bit different is horrible to see on tfs

wow. i never meant to start a whole big controversy around KK.

personally, i don't think it's necessary to put her in competition with Natalia or Daria or Gisele or Kate or whomever. there's room for all of them to be SUPERMODELS, and ICONS and the truth is that they. all. are.

Daria is a fashion icon. it's unarguable. everyone in fashion loves her. she's had more campaigns than you can shake a stick at. she's awesome.

Natalia is a fashion icon. it's unarguable. she became famous for her exclusive CK contract, and grew to be a photographer's favourite and editorial/campaign darling. she's amazing.

Karolina is a fashion icon. it's unarguable. she was a bonafide high-fashion supermodel before either Daria or Natalia had careers. she has been in the Top 10 Highest Earning Models list every year since Forbes created the list. She's done television shows, movies, won humanitarian awards for her philanthropy. she's been on every runway that exists, modeled for countless campaigns, been photographed by every photographer that matters, been on the covers of every international edition of every VOGUE, Elle, W, Numero, etc. AND, after essentially being absent from the world of "high fashion" for the past 5 years, she staged an incredible comeback this year, proving that the fashion world still has a lot of love for her.


MY POINT -- is that you don't have to diss one model to celebrate another. you don't have to pit KK and Natalia against each other. they've both achieved a tremendous amount in their careers and are respected and applauded by their peers.
