You’ve probably already seen her picture once or twice somewhere on social media. We’re so happy to have Meta Gewald as one of our New Faces. Time to get to know this pretty girl a little bit better.
Tell us a little something about yourself?
I live in Haarlem but I just moved there this year. In fact I lived in Leiden for 14 years. Before that I lived in Ruurlo (somewhere in the countryside). Something that you might not expect is that I was born in Gaborone, Botswana. My parents lived and worked there at the time. We still go back sometimes in the holidays.
I’m in my second last year of my high school, Stedelijk Gymnasium Haarlem. I enjoy going to school, besides just hanging out with friends. On top of that I really enjoy shopping.
Are you a cat or dog person?
That’s actually a really fun question! Because on one hand I love dogs and I would say I’m a dog person, but on the other hand I share my home with 4 cats… So I’m not sure what that makes me.
What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
First of all I watch a lot of tv and Netflix. But to answer the question I think I watched Master Chef Australia the last time I watched tv. I didn’t put much thought in deciding what to watch. The beautiful creations, creativity and suspense catch my attention.
What is your favorite song in your playlist right now?
This question is way too difficult. Right now I don’t really have any. It changes every second depending on how I feel. But I will give you some of my all time favourites: Billionaire ( Bruno Mars ), Don’t you remember ( Adele ).
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
I can’t think of a specific moment. But I always end up talking to mannequins and strange people in stores when I think I’m talking to my friends…
If you could be any tv character in the world, which one would you be?
Blair Waldorf, because she has a never ending motivation.
Who is your favorite model?
Cara Delevingne! But I also just love Lily Rose Depp.
And last but not least, what if you would walk outside right no and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning €10 million. What would you do with it?
I always fantasize about these sort of things, so I kind off have a list. Probably €3 million will have to go to taxes. I would give my room a make over. Buy an enormous amount of clothes. Travel the world from spa to spa. Buy a sphynx cat. Buy tons of blueberries and red fruits. After all this me spoiling me I would give money to my family especially my sister. And I would give some to my best friends. I would set 2 million apart for study and a house. I think this leaves me with 2 million I would either start my own charity or give it to the following: Unicef, Oxfam Novib, Stichting vluchteling.

If you were a historical figure who would you be ? What historical event would you want to witness ?
That's a tough question because there are so many aspiring people to choose from. I would stay close to home and say Aletta Jacobs. She was the first dutch female doctor an advocate for women's rights. I would've loved to witness Nelson Mandela's inauguration speech. I think that that would be so inspiring
If you could own an art piece what would you choose ?
I would choose a fountain, I don't know why I just always loved them.
What is you favourite musical era ?
To be honest the one that is going on now
What’s your favourite kind of food ?
Sushi, you can always wake me up for this
What do you feel strongly about ?
I feel strongly about equal rights and equal chances
What special skill are you proud of ?
I'm actually pretty good at sewing. I really enjoy just playing around with diiferent ideas and fabrics. Unfortunately I don't do it very often because I'm always busy with school or friends
Best concert you went to ? Concert most looking forward to ?
Bruno Mars! I wasn't able to get any tickets for Adele but that's a concert I would love to go to.
If you could invite 3 famous people over for dinner, who would you invite ?
Adele, Barack Obama and Cole Sprouse.
What is your favourite film ?
This is quite a silly one but I'd say Lilo and Stitch. When I was younger I used to watch it all the time. So it has a lot of sentimental value. Plus it reminds me to enjoy the little things and love your family
Do you have any hidden talents ?
Not it's also still hidden from me
What was your dream job as kid a kid ?
I always said I would become or a elve or an inventor so I could fly
Do you have any hobbies ?
I adore spending time with my friends. Shopping is also one of my favourites. Sewing as I said before. Not sure if you can call it a hobby but Netflix

In London I love the museums, and the theatres especially 'The Mousetrap'. In Paris I think the stores and fashion are lovely. I've never been to Barcelona but I'd love to see the works of Antoni Gaudí

Field hockey, I've played it since I was five
