Funny that Acid should ask about acid chemical peels... :p

I've heard microderm is great, gives a flawless appearance. I've also heard that it messes with your skin if you have it done regularly for too long, it destroys your skins natural surface, sort of. Don't know if it's true?

I've actually considered chemical peeling or something, because my face is scarred here and there from chicken pox I contracted when I was about 28; I think I scratched the blisters in my sleep or something...

I've been wondering about this, myself. I have godawful acne scarring on my back, but I also still have active acne...got a couple of mad painful spots right at the moment. I really should see a dermatologist, but my insurance charges me $40 co-pay to go to a specialist, plus a regular $20 office charge to get referred to the specialist. Therefore, I guess I have to remain spotty. *grumble*

Let me know how it goes, though. I may look into this sometime, after I get my student loan chiselled down a little more or something.

I haven't had either but I must say, it seems you're awfully young for this, Sean. Be sure you ask a lot of questions and that the benefits outweigh the risks. And there are always risks. Are you getting this done in a dermatologist's office?

I think you have to think about how bad your scarring is, and if it's worth the pain of getting rid of it. I had some pretty bad acne scarring when I was about your age and now it's mostly gone except for a few big pores. I'm 22 by the way.

I have micorderm every month or so and love it. It really helps even skin tone and hyperpigmentation if you have any. It's gentle compared to a chemical peel, which I've never had but I understand that if you do it you have to be extra careful if you have sensitive skin, and then careful of sun exposure.

I have really bad acne scarred skin (everywhere) and on top of it, I'm malato with light skin. So my skin is very uneven with brown spots from scarring. I purchased a at-home microdermabrasion and chemical peel. I saw it on tv. I've been using the peel once a week, the micro, maybe 2-3 times a week. Micro is gentle depending on how much pressure you use on your face. The peel, up to you on how long you leave it on. I have noticed a really big difference in the reduction of scars and even skin. It may take a month or so, but it is cheaper and does work. I am pleased, considering that I'm 30 and have had scars and acne since I was 13. My face has also cleared. Some break outs here and there. U can use it anywhere. ;)

I think you can judge from my photos posted a while ago in the Pictures of us thread, compared to the ones recently, and you can see a very noticeable difference ;)
