midwest style (middle america)

did we skip from east to west coast without speaking about everything in between?

Looks that way. I need to get out with my digi and coerce some of the cuter Kansas Citians to pose for me. Call me back when the weather gets a little more bearable, eh?

its good to catch people bundled up fleece hats and knit scarves and all! its the arctic blast in MN..lots of scarves doubling as masks-survival chic. Anyways come ot MN and you'll see earthy people who actually pull off boho chic!

weeeeeeelll...if you're from middle america..then represent...!!!
:flower:

Wait till Sloan gets back from California, I'll have her post some pics from one of the largest cities in the midwest St. Louis.

I'm in KC with As You Like It. KC is pretty boring style. Just the usual chain shops, for the most part.

I haven't been representing because it's too bloody cold to be outside. Your snot freezes and your fingers soon become too stiff and clumsy to work the shutter button on your camera.

Alex is right, however...most people around Kansas City dress very boring, though you occasionally see some people with cute style. Oddly, I often see very cool people at the recycling center on 44th & Woodland! There is good people-watching in Westport and the Crossroads, and frequently on the Plaza, since that's where people like to show off and see and be seen.

Burberry scarf central. :yuk: *shudders*

Hehe--tis true. While I was waiting for the bus downtown one night last week (I work downtown) this dude came up beside me, yapping away on his cel phone, wearing a burberry scarf and carrying an ostentatiously logoed LV briefcase that I think was fake. I am no expert on these things, but the contrast trim seemed awfully yellow. He was wearing some manner of a cabbie hat and a standard men's woolen winter coat, but you sure could tell he thought he was Mr. Suave and Debonair...waiting for the damn bus with the rest of us plebes!

Midwest style... hmmm. You can find people with great style everywear.. There is a mass of bad fashion up here but what people lack in style they make up for in kindness and being down-to-earth :flower:

where I live, it is dominated by banana or A&F. Then when lacoste got big, all the A&F doods starting wearing their lacoste with the popped collars. very funny.

cleveland has no style. it essentially does what cities like sf and seattle do...only about 4-5 months behind. (at least in terms of street style/hipster crowd) there really are no places that are dedicated to fun independant design and very few shops that carry anything out of sync with the rest of the country. really i think the average co-ed or highschool girl probably dresses the same way no matter what region - sort of a j.crew, abercrombie, & urban outfitters - if they mated sort of look.

i live in IL, and in my town for the most part its the "wannabes trendy girls"..a&f, fake designer bags, northface, etc. Rarely people have style here.

I would post you a pic of what the typical girl looks like here. ... there is this girl who has a xanga at my school.. but i'm terrified they would find out

^^   good idea!
i want to just take my digi cam to school to capture the "oh so stylish" girls

yah. thats pretty much the way your average person looks everywhere.
