Mixing jewelry?

What do you think? : when you wear a few pieces of jewelry, do you feel that they all have to be the same metal/color/style or is it ok to mix it all up?
The mixing of silver and gold is what I have most in mind but you guys can bring up whatever kind of example you want

(ps: don't know if there's already a thread about this... I checked and found nothing... )

I do not mix silver and gold, but I mix big ring with thin ring, like this:

I always wear the same metals together too, but it's a pain sometimes because I can't wear some of my favorites together. I have tons of silver, and just got a gold ring that I always wear now. Tough choice!

I don't have many gold rings, but I don't mind mixing them with my silver.

I dont mix all yellow gold with all silver/white gold, but many of my things are gold/silver/white gold intertwined so the combinations are endless.
