I've been saving up for a new mobile but now I'm kind of reconsidering whether i should get an 4GB ipod nano or the motorola rokr which stores 50 itunes on it. so which one should i get, the motorola rokr or the nano?

My friend has that phone, Im not impressed with it. But im even less impressed with Ipod Nanos'. IMO theyre cheaply built pieces of crap.

But Im sure others would disagree ;)

Never tested the phone but the Nano is a ripoff. Not enough gigs for too much money.

I would go for the phone.... with the phone you can call people AND listen to music! Nano can't do that!

I prefer the Nano...I like things separate.

The Rokr can only hold like 100 songs and it is rather thick. I would wait for something a tad more streamlined to come out.

I have both. Honestly, the nano and iPod are starting to become overrated. But, iPods are nice pieces of hardware that has beautiful integration with the iTunes software, which is why it's popular in the first place. Install, plug-in, load songs.

The phone, serves its main purpose very well. Great reception, loud speaker, nice mic, feels nice and solid in your hand. The integrated iTunes however, shouldn't be a replacement for a dedicated music player. It does its job, and 50 songs (unbranded ROKR) is enough for "on-the-go listening when I don't feel like bringing my iPod".

Have any more questions, just ask.

Don't get the Rokr.

Get the Palm Treo. It's a phone, camera, organizer, email, web browser, AND it plays MP3s. :D

Also, I have a Mac Powerbook G4, and I can use my Treo to act as a wireless bluetooth modem so I can surf the web from anywhere. It's astonishingly fast.

I'd get the Nano... phones with frills and thrills tend to freeze a lot and not work well as a phone! I'd keep the music & calling separate!

The Treo is 400 dollars. I'm guessing she gave us the choice of only those 2 because the price points are similar. The ROKR has bluetooth and can be a modem as well.

Nano.

That phone is ugly. And storing 50 songs on a phone isn't enough.

but does the ROKR work and run well?

I also like to keep my stuff separate.... I'd just get an mp3 player... doesn't have to be the nano of course.

It works absolutely great as a phone. The only down-side is that the menus can slow down if you have itunes on at the same thime. And the headphone jack is 2.5mm instead of the 3.5mm standard with everything else, so if you don't want to use the included headphones (which works pretty well), you'll have to get an adaptor for like 5 bucks.

Other than that, its a great phone.

My opinion on the Palm Smartphone is that it's a great allinone device. Perfect for organzing tasks and replacing a notepad. Because its not PalmOs but Windows Mobile, you get more functions on a device like that, such as video/mp3/phone and whatnot. But, it does come as a price. So it depends on you needs and wants.

For me, I needed an organizer too, but couldn't spend that much on a allinoen device, so I bought the Palm Z22. Its the entry level of Palm's PDA and it should be here friday. I'll give you a more indepth review of it if you want.
