Model Casting F/W 07.08

I was wondering the same thing...Perhaps she was on a Balenciaga exclusive?

Hmm, I don't think so. It seems a bit late in her career to be a Balenciaga exclusive. That would be too random.

Yeah the lack of Hilary in Milan and Paris is odd.. I was thinking she'd continue her hot streak from last season esp since she got her estee lauder contract, but maybe she is so busy recently with other committments.. and she only did Balenciaga since Ghesquire "discovered" her and she is sort of paying her respects? This is all speculation lol..

I was wondering which models everyone has noticed fading compared to last season(-s)?

(I'm not thinking about real oldies like Winberg or Vujovic who are just gliding into runway retirement, but of a bit more recent girls)

I've mostly paid attention to all the new faces, so I haven't followed so closely how everyone else has been doing..

I'd say Du Juan seems be losing ground already. Also Marta Berzkalna is just gone almost, which is weird with her new hairdo and all. She only did small shows :(

Also, I would say that this season is the first season where you can really really say that a new generation of models has taken over the runway fully. The only 'oldies' (pre-SS05 approx.) out there seem to be Stam, Donaldson, Ward, Poly and a bit of Werbowy. It's an exciting period of time in the modeling world now!

ETA: Oh and Zimmermann, but I don't think she'll EVER retire

It's a shame if Du Juan fades already. After that great campaign season she had FW06, I thought she would be at the top for much time to come. But that didn't really happen. :(

Maybe I'm wrong but it feels like 'bob girls' Rachel, Alison and Patricia aren't doing that great. I know Alison missed NYFW, but I expected her to do more in Europe. I also noticed Mariya Markina is doing less than last season.

And I guess you could say that Georgia is fading already. Ever since NYC. :D :ninja:

Solange

And yes, the bob girls -- Alison's still doing fairly well, though.

Seems like most of Daria's generation of models are fading, and fading fast (on the runways at least). Eugenia Volodina, Hana Soukupova, Caroline Winberg, Marija Vujovic, Julia Stegner, Diana Dondoe, Luca Gadjus, Heather Marks, Doutzen Kroes, and Tiuu Kuik. :(

^I know what you mean kevinnn. :( On the bright side, most of them are moving into commercial modelling. Hopefully we still see them in at least a few shows each season.. :flower:

^ You're right. It really is a shame. Well...of course I'm glad that Stam is still doing well but a part of me still want the domination of Tiuu/hana/Caroline to come back. I just got so used to seeing them everywhere.

I posted this in another thread a few months ago, but I think the problem is that too many casting people think that amazing in editorials means amazing on the runway. Sometimes, it just doesn't translate. The models that are mentioned above all have a great runway prescence whether you like them or not. They're pretty, have good walks and don't distract too much from the clothing.

I was generally pleased with all the freshness that has descended upon various runways this season. Aside from a few most girls looked really good this season.
Stand-out shows in terms of model casting were: Dries Van Noten, Chloe, TSE, Hermes, Balenciaga and Jill Stuart. At times it seemed that casting directors picked some random girls who didn' t fit the mood of a given collection. For example who the hell would put Suvi Kopenen in a Versace show or in any other show?

^ about casting models that complement each other I think Miu Miu was perfect!

Yeah, that's also what i've been thinking.:(
I'm afraid that she'll somewhat retire soon and get married or sth. like that, like she said in some interview.
You know, I always have this feeling, modeling doesn't give her much joy, really.:(

Leah de Wavrin had a very poor season. She's really bad on the runway, and she started fading already last season. But if you compare to how great she did last Fall and the covers, eds and campaigns she has booked after that, it's still a little surprising.

Edit: Now things got strange, because I accidently deleted when I tried to edit.

Edit 2: No it didn't because Faith is a wise girl. ^_^

 I guess I'll repost as well...

^Agreed. After what she went through at Hussein Chalayan last season, you would think that designers would be brave enough to put her in anything! Guess not :/

^ I had completely forgotten about that "outfit" at Chalayan.

But yeah, she didn't even walk for Celine. Or designers like Rykiel that she has done campaigns for earlier. :/

Katarina Ivanovska and Katja Shchekina seemed to have faded really fast as well. :(

I agree, kevinnn, and the lack of those two on the runways made me sad. Especially Katja, I haven't seen her hardly anywhere since VS.
