well, most models are above 5'10 flat. when they're wearing 4 inch heels, they measure up to 6'2-6'3. and some models are secretly 6'0, they're massive, 6'4.
it all depends on the heel.

This thread is amazing!! These must be some really short stylists/backstage people...

I'm not very very tall but sometimes I feel like a giant around really short people. I'm only 5'7. I was wearing wedges one day and someone shorter asked me if I was 6'0 tall. Oh god no.

I think being extremely tall would be awkward in real life...but it looks great in print and on runway.

Okay, is it just me or does the fashion industry only attract giants and little nuggets? No one is average sized!

I don't want to be photographed with any of these models; I'd prefer to keep what little self esteem I have...

^ haha, awh. Well not all models are giant, in fact some are on the shorter side and even then they still look giant next to people backstage. So I'm thinking designers purposely hire really small people to work backstage in order to make the models look huge at least that's what I'm guessing.

This thread obviously favors and showcases extreme examples, but not all models stand out all that much. There are plenty of Supreme models who are only striking for their height and weight; facially, many are unexceptional. Additionally, a conventionally beautiful girl Sasha's height and weight may not contrast that strongly with other attractive females a similar size. It's not like all models are superglamorous amazons and non-models are always short and ugly. I know this thread is tongue-in-cheek, but it would be nice to see some examples that weren't complicit in the fanatical belief that models are supernatural beings, etc.

I've worked with plenty of models, both in-house and from a press standpoint, and they don't always tower over everyone and make every woman surrounding them look like fat children. They aren't even that intimidating. It's a myth we ourselves propagate for our own reasons.


You could say the same for any attractive person's face, model or not. Obviously, attractive people stand out because they are a rare commodity. And of course, there are also beautiful hairstylists and make up artists - some even "model-like" physically, as well - but they are unrepresented in this thread.

Good post The purpose of the thread is to post striking comparisons, I suppose... a comparison of, say, Kimora Lee Simmons or Donna Karan to their models wouldn't be as quite as interesting, haha.

Kate Moss is a supermodel, and if you noticed, she has only appeared in this thread as a comparison (to Hana)! She might be small, but Kate's face is much more remarkable than Hana's to me.
