Models Who Were One-Hit Wonders

There seem to be repetitive seasonal dynamics going on with a Blonde-du-jour-model. A blonde model who suddenly walks everything and kind of evaporates after a season or two, never explodes into print but does a B-campaign or two, snatches some B-vogue eds and sort of disappears off the hot radar; Im remembering Emily Baker, Juliana Schurig, Charlene Höger. Am I imagining patterns here? I feel this is somewhat similar to what happens to black models frequently.

I wouldn't consider Patricia a one-hit wonder. She had several strong runway seasons and an impressive editorial résumé. A lot of models may have one of those and likely for a short time, but she was very consistent. Eventually most models careers will fade but I wouldn't lump them in with some of these models who had a major campaign or one good season then were never heard from again.

Amanda Murphy certainly didn't live up to the hype for long

Amanda Murphy just walked a slew of tops shows, is currently on a Vogue cover, and books multiple campaigns every season. She's fine.

^ Not at all. Two seasons Balenciaga, Tom Ford and last season Hermès. She just slowed down, but not at all a one hit wonder.

I think Marine not walking fashion weeks is not because people got tired of her like a one hit wonder..... it's better for her health to just focus on print

Antonina Vasylchenko, Katya Riabinkina, Anna Martynova, Cici Xiang Yejing, Lina Zhang, Mariana Santana, Senait Gidey (soooo many promising Asian and Black models with stellar potential that fall flat:neutral:.)

^ True to a point... When it comes to Cici & Mariana I have to disagree a bit.

I do think Cici could be considered a one hit wonder I guess internationally since she only was around for one season but her work in Asia has been pretty consistent. And is currently in school, so maybe that is her current focus at the moment.

Mariana on the other hand is visible but selectively when it comes to runway, for the past few seasons she has repeated Proenza Schouler, Sportmax, Roberto Cavalli, and Loewe. Was also in W few month back. Not sure how there managing her career at the moment because she could easily fade I guess...

I think rightfully this thread is focused on international high fashion. All things considered it is the most competitive and prestigious level of modelling in many respects. That isn't to say that other markets and areas of modelling don't offer "good" or "respectable" work.

As well, there are models who excel in both international high fashion and locally in their own countries. A model who only had one strong season overseas for whatever reason should be considered a one-hit wonder in comparison to a model who has been consistently successful in both areas.

^ Absolutely, so all things considered Cici would be considered unfortunately one hit wonder. I only questioned it because Cici was on the cover of Vogue and shot with Cuneyt Akeroglu for a few publications all within the last year. Not to many models I would consider a one hit wonder work in similar scale as Cici I guess.

Mijo Mihaljcic, I think. She had one or two good seasons, but did only a few shows this season...

What about Melissa Stasiuk? Did she quit the business? I thought she had such great potential, and would fit well alongside the current fringe girls like Mica Arganaraz and Antonina Petkovic.

Stef Van Der Laan fizzled quite quickly as well.

And I think Irene Hiemstra's career is a major loss. Such a bewitching, unique look.

Also, I think we'll see Stella Lucia's name on this thread come next year. She just seems destined to fizzle out in the next season or two, and I was even surprised at her catwalk presence this past season (two looks at Pucci?). No potential for longevity at all IMO.

I know she wasn't a one hit wonder, but has there ever been a model with a meteoric rise and fall like Arizona Muse? She was everywhere at one point and was racking up vogue covers. Now she barely works.

Different situation completely but Gemma is kind of the same. I know people think she's choosing to not work a lot but I don't think so, if that was true and she only wanted 1 or 2 covers they would be VI or VP not what she has been doing, You just can't ever think you're special in this industry because people will get over you as quickly as they love you,

Is Nataliya Gotsiy a one hit wonder? I feel like her career never took off blue chipwise.?
