Arizona Muse has curly hair. You can see it on early publications and now with her short hair.

No curls on the runway ?

I noticed that 99% of the fashion shows use models with straight hair. Except a few shows where curls are a part of a specific styling or mood for the presentation. I feel like the fashion industry is against curly hair. Am I being paranoid ?

People will say, most of the models aren't curly, but is it because most of the models are casted because they have straight hair ? I am happy Simon Nessman is doing so well and I find it so disrespectul to see him having to straighten his hair for some shows he his doing. I would just want more hair diversity.

I found a thread on TFS about models with curly hair...only 5 pages. If I should create one about straight hair it would be around 500 pages I guess...

Any thoughts ?

I guess it's because the designers want attention to be focused on the clothes. Straight hair is much sleeker and shows off the clothes better I think. I feel like curled hair puts more attention on the model's face and hair rather than the clothing.

Versace is the only brand I can recall that curls their models' hair often. But I do agree that it would be nice to see it more on the runways!

There are many models on the runway who have naturally curly hair especially on the finer side. On top of that they get keratin treatments which straightens, shines and de-frizzes hair. If we had to make a generalization about the hair type on the runway it would be fine and not thick hair. For example, Patricia van der Vliet and Lindsey Wixson both have naturally very curly hair but they get hair treatments. Many models also get their hair blown out and extend the days between washes. So no, the models casted for shows are not necessarily more towards the straight hair side.
