“I wanted it to be feminine and easy; there’s a relaxed element to the clothes,” said Monique Lhuillier of her resort lineup, a visual feast of florals in bold primary colors. Inspiration came after Lhuillier dreamt up a busy botanical print — seen a number of dresses and jackets, some covered in lace — and then evolved it into other blue and red floral prints on white silk faille cocktail dresses, eveningwear separates and sheer caftans.
A white tuxedo jacket with an open, embellished lace back tempered the collection’s girlishness with a bit of boyish cool, while the standout look, a black lace dress covered in butterfly and flower appliqués, added a welcome bit of darkness.
