Since winning Australian's Next Top Model in 2011, life has become a flurry of flashing cameras for 18-year-old Montana Cox. InStyle caught up with the native-Melburnian minutes before she walked the runway at the David Jones autumn/winter 2012 show, and it seems she could be appearing on a catwalk in Paris or Milan this season too…
What has life been like since you won Australia's Next Top Model?
"I thought things would die down after the show finished but there's been a lot going on – it's been a whirlwind; it really hasn't stopped! I've moved to Sydney, and I also had a quick trip to New York City. And I've been shooting a lot of campaigns. There are some big jobs coming up soon – which I can't talk about just yet – and there are a lot coming out this winter, so hopefully you'll be seeing my face around!"
You're walking alongside Miranda Kerr this evening; what is it like sharing a runway with her?
"Miranda's obviously beautiful and she's so lovely. When people see her in a room, every person is like, "Ohh!" It's very surreal to be walking next to her; she's such a huge international supermodel and everyone does look up to her."
What's on your shopping list for this coming season?
"There are a lot of items I want! There's a black Josh Goot dress which I need to have, a Dion Lee skirt with zips on the side which is also black – black is what I like to I wear! – plus, I have my eye on some men's trousers and blazers."
How would you describe your personal style?
"Relaxed. It changes all the time. [At the moment], it's more tomboy than anything else – I love oversized T-shirts with jeans and boots."
What's your beauty regimen?
"I'm actually pretty lazy when it comes to skincare. I take my make-up off before I go to bed. I wear a lot of sunscreen – that's very important. Look after yourself, drink water, eat the right foods and go to bed early!"
What's coming up for you in 2012?
"I'm going over to Europe in the next couple of weeks, so will see how I go there. Then I will definitely head to New York mid-year. I'm really excited about future prospects!"
