Kate's New Arm Candy
Mama's got a brand new Mulberry Bayswater bag

LONDON: Wednesday, March 17, 2004

WHAT: Bayswater Bag from UK luxury goods maker Mulberry

WHY: Need a Brit carryall to match your Smythson journal? Her Kateness has you covered.  The trendstarter recently traded her Balenciaga sac for Mulberry’s new Bayswater bag.  Roomy enough for diapers, but femme enough for high tea, it will take you through mud season and beyond.  Now Kate, about those boots…

WHERE: www.mulberry.com

PRICE: About $900

Haha that's exactly what I thought!

If I'm gonna shell out $1500, I want some interesting design aspects and not just a square black tote. Kate can wear what she wants, but I'm not following her down this lame path.

that bag was so boring i feel asleep looking at it
hahaha... that's good stuff.

That Bayswater bag is a bit "inspired" by the Birkin if you ask me... Mulberry has gone downhill ever since they decided to sort of rebrand themselves some years ago. They used to have their own style which I loved, now most of the stuff looks a bit off somehow IMO...

Attaching a more detailed pic:

Hm. doesnt look any different from the knockoffs that the guy on the corner tries to pawn off on me....

and yea, it does resemble the birkin.. or the kelly, or whatever... and maybe the birkin is a bit "boring" designwise.. but it will always be around, and loved.

But those were designed years ago and are still to this day considered classic... this is a "new" knockoff from a reputable company. I just find it... Sad.

Me too.

One of my favourite bags is actually a Mulberry Monmouth (not sure about the name...). It's a messenger bag in thick, soft, black leather with brass hardware and a horsehair strap. I've had it for close to 10 years and it'll last me another 10 I think.

is it just me or is it just a little out-of-place for a house to dictate to it's customer what the must-have bag is...? i thought it was the other way around.

and kate could JUST be carrying the bag...just because she wears it a couple of times doesn't mean she's like endorsing it or something...lol..sometimes this stuff just tickles me...in Vanity Fair they have her down as hating the UGG boot trend when we've all seen that picture of her and her child wearing matching UGGs...it's all hype

ew. after seeing THAT pic.. i can safely say that this bag is just plain UGLY.

the bayswater is just too generic to be a fantastic bag but it's okay.
