Nail Polish

GBP and USD are really low atm... eBay beware :shifty: How is the quality of Essie? I think OPI is the best I've ever tried. Easy to apply, shiny, last forever and fantastic colours.

For me, OPI is the best out there in terms of easy application, durability and color. I've heard a lot about Ballet Slippers too and it seems to rank consistently in magazines as the best pale pink nail polish, but it only has a 53% on Makeupalley. Mademoiselle by Essie on the other hand, which I happen to own has over 80%. I think it's great.
OPI's Bubble Bath is also popular (it's supposedly the shade Giada de Laurentiis uses on her Everyday Italian show and her nails always look gorgeous), and is also quite pretty.

The_Ida, I'm Not Really A Waitress was my first and favorite OPI nail polish :) then I discovered Affair in Red Square (like Christmas in a bottle, and a truer red) and Bastille My Heart (Darker ruby red) and they are fabulous. <3

I'm leaning towards Mademoiselle as well, it seems more pink and less milky...even though it's hard to judge from photos. Thanks for the advice, you are really helpful :flower:

I really need more OPIs. Maybe something coral-ish for summer?

I went to get my hair cut today and the salon has a MASSIVE selection of OPI, so I brought home... Parlez-vous OPI? and Blue My Mind. Can't wait to try them out!

ida i think essie is good in terms of quality...
they stock it in every nail salon i've ever been in in the US..

i just bought east hampton cottage by them.. more of a summery color though.. it's like a whitish pink rather than a nude pink..

but like the others said, essie has a good selection of nude pinks and ballet slippers is popular

kwikspell another dark blue with no sparkle is Navy Baby by Sally Hansen Salon...
i have it and the color is pretty good but if you put it on too thick or put on more than one coat it tends to look more black than blue.. which is my only gripe..
but at the same time it's quick to apply since you only need one coat

Wow at those Chanel swatches. I like Or de Russie though :innocent:

Anyone know where I can get my hands on Eighteen Carrot by Essie? Several sellers on Amazon listed it, but every time I ordered it, they would cancel my order and tell me they didn't have it in stock AFTER ALL!

:woot: I got the last bottle of Laura Mercier Caviar Dreams at the store I went to. It was a madhouse because of Christmas, but I feared they would sell out if I didn't go now. Now for the pedicure ...

I asked for a few OPI holiday shades for Christmas. (Brand New Skates, Coal outside, Don't toy with me)

I'm wearing Ink right now and I really like it. I'm a sucker for indigo/dark blue/ purple things.

As far as my blue goes, I am addicted to Essie's Aruba Blue...it does have a bit of shimmer, but it's a beautiful royal blue.

essie is the best polish for me - everything else chips in 1-2 days, whereas essie can be good for 3-4 and i use my hands a lot. I find they work well with same brand top & base coat but not essential. i'm wearing berry hard at the moment and only used the base coat and it lasted three days fine, started chipping on the 4th so next time i use it, i'll put the top coat on for the third day to extend it.

i bought mademoiselle, and prefer it to ballet slippers because it's more pinky and warm.

i adore caviar dreams!
i wore it over the weekend to a holiday party and it looked great!

a friend of mine got me the ck calvin klein mini nail polish set for christmas, and it had a nice steel grey in it (called steele)...
it's not as light as i hoped but it's lighter than ysl's tuxedo grey...

^ Glad you like it ... I got a pedicure appt this afternoon, & should look great if my toesies don't freeze off ;)

Or de Russie from the Moscow collection looks too similar to Haute Chocolat and also China Glaze Wagon Trail for me.

I like wearing gray polish because it's smart and goes with everything and it's also a bit different. Only in winter though. Summer I wear coral...

We went over to my brother/sister in law's house today for lunch & a swim and my sister in law was wearing Napoleon's Soda Pop - I fell in love with it, and she let me borrow it... I just love the bright fruity colour - although I have to admit it looked better against her olive skin than my incredibly fair skin, but it's a fun colour none the less! I might need to check out this Chandelier range now, does anyone have any suggestions from this range?

^I don't know much about Napoleon nail polish B, but a great bright coral from OPI is Modern Girl :) another bright one I love is Chanel Orange Blossom.

I went past the Chanel counter today and saw the Moscow Collection here in Sydney, so it is available world wide. It's beautiful ..not cheap looking at all. Chanel polish doesn't have great wear but their colours are amazing..

it does hurt to pay $40 for a bottle of nail polish though!

I'm kinda liking orange now but only something like this. Anyone happen to know what color it is or something that is similar? It looks like light neon orange.. Love it with the shoes too.
