The Designer: British born Jenden is showing for the second time in London after two previous outings for his label in New York. He continues to work as creative director for Diane von Furstenberg, a job he began in 2001. He graduated from Central Saint Martin’s in 1994 and went on to the Royal College of Art followed by stints with Galliano and Kenzo before moving to New York to work as design director for Daryl K in 1999. “I have been in New York for seven years and it is very much a part of who I am creatively” he explains, “But my own label (launched in February 2006) is more in context in London.”
The Collection: His predominantly evening and cocktail dresses have a London edginess but also a sassy mix of New York panache. For A/W 07 he used rich taffeta, silk jacquard and metallic linen for short strapless dresses or puff-skirted ball-gowns. Beatrix Ong designed the brothel creeper shoes worn with short socks that diluted any politesse and Philip Treacy conjured up head-pieces with bows and metal grille veils. Inspired by his last collection Britney Spears stylist, Pattie Wilson, thought Jenden’s clothes would provide just the change of image needed for the singer’s new album cover.
News: Returning to London to show this London Fashion Week for the second time.
Will be a final judge on Project Catwalk.
