It's probably a good idea to go to a store that sells them and ask for help. Different people run different, and need different shoes. Some stores let you run on a treadmill to see how you run and try the shoe out.
Oh, sorry, didn't notice you're a girl. I'm guessing it's a present then. Maybe you could give him a card that says you are going to buy him running shoes.
