Atelier
125 Crosby St.
High-end men’s clothes, shoes, and accessories by Rick Owens, Balenciaga, Carol Christian Poell, Ann Demeulemeester, Les Hommes, and Shaun Leane. If you want patterns and color, don’t bother, but the muted tones and simple styles are perfect for minimalist dressers.

anyone have the link to the site...

"Simple styles??" I'm not sure you can call super-tight, multi-seamed, leather patch-kneed, assymetrical zipper opening Raf Simons pants and their ilk 'simple,' just because they're mostly in black! :p

Oh how wonderful their clothing is.
I only wish I could afford such luxuries for my husband :(

Seriously, how stupid. Anything BUT simple.

They also sold Helmut Lang.

correction. they were planning to sell HL, but were refused on the grounds that the HL boutique was too close. I guess they won't be able to say that now

yes...on bleecker and broadway...

completely different and unrelated... ;)

that website is lovely...

would be nice if you could view the collections or see inside the shop...

i don't think seeing inside th shop would tell you anything really..
it's very minimalist...
it's not flashy-it's like the clothes they sell...

and you can see the clothes on the model in the gallery...
which i prefer...

plus...this way they dont have to change according to season...
more practical really from a business point of view...

it's more about the image of the store...
not an e-shop...
works for me...^_^

It's not much, but here's a recent article on Atelier on men.style.com.

I dunno..perhaps I always go there at the wrong time but everytime that I am there I can only see the basic black blazers, fetishesqe bondage pants, and some cheesy white tees...how come I never find the things that I see on the runways...oh and the SAs spook me...I'm always afriad to try things because I think they might club me if I don't buy it..:ninja:

I just went there for the first time this weekend, the clothes are very nice, the people are cool and laid back. Very good clothes if you can afford it.

I'm not sure if you're looking very hard, if that's all you see. And the gents that work there are very friendly, even moreso considering how very cold the reception can be in some of the other boutiques nearby.

I went there recently on Faust's recommendation, and it's a great selection. Carefully edited to a neutral-toned palette, but within that limitation there is a lot of variety.

They do carry some very simple pieces (basic v-neck sweaters, t-shirts, blazers) right next to the more adventurous fare, so whether you're a minimalist or a post-everything rockstar looking for something extravagant to wear in your next photoshoot, there's something for everyone.

Also, experience shopping at similar small boutiques has taught me that one visit is never enough...with these smaller places there is a lot of turnover throughout the season and new items are arriving all the time. So if you've been in once and didn't find anything you fancy, give them another shot.

Ah, if only we had such a boutique stuffed with Japanese and Belgians here in Austin... Le sigh :flower:
