Katazryna Dolinska from ANTM 10 has done quite well for herself, she walked Vanessa Bruno.

It's sad that ANTM contestants are considered successful when they walk for not so-famous designers who are starting out, but foreign NTM contestants are considered successful when they walk for major designs in NYC, Milan, and Paris like Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent. ANTM is lame and Tyra just needs to give up because the fashion industry these days are screaming for the "European" look, not the American girl next door. Don't even get me started with her short models this year, it's a joke. Kate Moss is and will most likely be the only "short" supermodel.

Oh, and ANTM winners are featured in what for winning? Seventeen magazine? While other NTM winners are featured in their home country's Vogue. Sorry, but in terms of high fashion careers, being in a small country's Vogue is better than Seventeen.

^ agree. ANTM is career suicide for anyone who is serious about becoming a model.

The only one I see who's even trying to legitimately make a name for herself is Jaslene Gonzalez. You can literally see her trying to claw her way to the top, she walks for smaller designers cause that's apparently the only gigs she can get, but it hasn't stopped her from trying. Her biggest show to date is walking for Project Runway during NY Fashion Week. I'm actually routing for her and hope to see her in bigger shows. But she's tiny (I think she's only 5'8") so I don't know if she'll ever be successful, but I wish her luck.

Yes, Jaslene is tiny, and I wonder why the judges never mentioned it in the show!

wow! Congrats to her! She's doing and incredible season, so besides Ksenia she is the only TM contestant that have found sucess and she's already doing more than my dear Ksu.

The standards of success are somewhat skewed in that regard, but I also wouldn't rule out that the American show may come under greater fire than the international versions. (Perhaps deservedly so -- I can't disagree that generally the international NTMs crush ANTM when it comes to decent casting, photoshoots, and most importantly, setting out to actually find a "next top model".) It might actually be more difficult for American contestants to break through post-show in the US because it just seems the show is more popular and thus has more a reputation, although I'm not saying that's for certain.

Either way, there are girls on ANTM who I think beat some of the international contestants any day of the week when it comes to actual model potential; as there are international girls who (imo) would be scoffed at for being too short/pedestrian/etc. if they were on ANTM or at least more people would be willing to admit it. True it's their own fault for going on the show when they probably could have just headed to an agency, but I do think it sucks that a girl who essentially has the right components can't move past GO because she was on a reality show.

The Ksenias, Polinas, Alices, and now Patricias are really far and few between. Very few girls from these shows (American or otherwise) truly reach their height of success. However, several of the American girls who are popularly seen as successful have done major fashion work -- Mollie Sue has been in Vogue Nippon, Italia, Russia; Katarzyna has been in L'Officiel + Vogue Australia and walked for Issey Miyake; Toccara had a 13-page editorial in Vogue Italia shot by Meisel. One can argue that is not as much as that "top tier" listed, but it's certainly more than a good portion of NTMers altogether.

So while I agree that it's somewhat laughable when one stacks up the success of ANTMers to international ones, I don't think that it's just American contestants that are getting a pass on being successful for doing comparatively less. We just hear more about it because the online fanbase for ANTM is more present.

Style Savvy, abbreviations are no longer allowed thus rtvg doesn't qualify as a proper credit. Please correct it, and also make sure you're crediting the right site as I believe some of that was actually compiled by tFS members.

Patricia featured as one of STYLE.COM's Top 10 Newcomers:clap:

patricia van der vliet (new york models)

Did you know that the Prada show featured a third-runner-up from Next Top Model? Patricia van der Vliet competed in Holland's Cycle 4, but it wasn't until she got the ax that her career took off. We bet Tyra wishes she could boast a discovery who would go on to close Balenciaga and open Louis Vuitton.

I have been watching Holland's next topmodel lately and I think it is very telling that two of the most shy and reluctant participants in this shows concept worlwide are the most successful right now: Vanessa Hegelmaier (Germany, 3rd cycle, 9th place, left on her own will) and Patricia van der Vliet (Holland 4th cycle, 4th place). To me it just shows how over the top this show is. The only two winners who are constantly working are Barbara Meier and Lena Gercke. Both won the German competition. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
