Beautiful postcard, a 1966 photograph of Dutch painter Jan Cremer and chanteuse Nico.
They both lived at the Chelsea Hotel at the time.

Looks like it's from the same set as this one. I didn't know who the guy was before.

I hope these are not reposts!

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the untimely passing of model/songstress/Warhol cohort Nico, which means it's as good a time as any for a handful of musician friends and fans to come together and commemorate the life and work of the beloved singer and Velvet Underground collaborator.
Velvet Underground's John Cale has assembled a gathering of Nico's friend and admirers for "Life Along the Borderline: A Tribute to Nico", which hits London's Royal Festival Hall on Saturday, Oct. 11. The Fiery Furnaces, Mark Lanegan (The Gutter Twins, Screaming Trees), Peter Murphy (Bauhaus), James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers), Cale collaborator Nick Franglen (Lemon Jelly), and other as-yet-unannounced guests will join Cale in "re-imagining Nico's songs" for the special performance.

It doesn't seem that weird for me because i'm only 19 but i wish she was still alive :(

I hope there are a lot of photos and videos from this because it sounds interesting. I wish i was in London right now!

^I can understand that. As for me, I remember so well the day I read the news of her death in NME (New Musical Express) - a UK music weekly. I was shocked! Same feeling when I read about John Lennon shooting in NY. Well, I am 46. I also remember about Elvis death. Althought I was only 14 then, I remember it very well.

The sad thing is that her death could have been avoidable. She did not get proper treatment when the taxi driver brought her to the hospital in Ibiza (many hours after her fall from her bike). It was nighttime, there was no doctors. Thinking she had a sunstroke, they let her sleep in an hospital bed waiting for the doctor to check on her in the morning. She died during the night from a brain hemoragia. This is the really shocking/tragic thing. And yes, she had cleaned-up her by then.

I know if only someone had seen her sooner and the doctors weren't such assholes. They didn't care because they thought she was just some junkie. What does it say in the Richard Witt's book? "If there's one thing to learn from Nico's death it's to never get sick in Spain" something like that.

^^Yes, this is what he wrote. I think it is in that book that he stresses the fact that as an immigrant/alien in Spain, it did complicate matters for admittance in hospitals, or something similar... have to re-read that part of the book.

^ The trailer looks really great! It's a pity the dvd will probably arrive much later here in Europe than in the US.

anyone going (or have in past tense) as Nico for halloween? :) I'm thinking of even cutting bangs for this..

I never have and probably never will. I don't like going as real people. I have more fun making something up. Did you end up going as her?
