Nina Garcia Out at Elle? *Update-She's in at Marie Claire*

I just saw this, shocking if true.

Elle is said to have parted company with its fashion director and “Project Runway” star and author Nina Garcia sources said late Friday.

Neither Garcia, Elle editor in chief Robbie Myers nor a spokeswoman for Elle could be reached for comment.

On Tuesday, Elle hosted a dinner with Moschino to celebrate Simon Doonan's new book, "Eccentric Glamour: Creating an Insanely More Fashionable You", but Garcia was notably absent.

Speculation about Garcia's departure has swirled for months, especially after the arrival of Joe Zee at the beginning of 2007 as creative director. Last spring, Garcia left the magazine on maternity leave, and began writing a monthly fashion column for Elle upon her return. Garcia was in the office on Friday morning, but by the afternoon, sources close to the building say Hachette’s Midtown offices were abuzz about the rumor.

The editor, who has already penned one book, “The Little Black Book of Style,” is a judge on the Bravo reality show “Project Runway”, which earlier this week switched to Lifetime Television under a more lucrative contract. NBC Universal, Bravo’s owner, has sued The Weinstein Co., producer of “Project Runway,” over the move.

I didn't see this coming, perhaps she will be moving to another title? As long as Joe Zee is there, however, I'm happy!

Oh, wow. Wow. Surprising, but not. Still, Garcia was doing well for Elle, I thought. Maybe that was Zee's influence, though!

^^^Thanks for the longer article mkd! :flower: I think I expected her to leave eventually, but not this soon.

even with the speculation, i did not see this actually happening. i really liked her with elle. and.. i can't decided if i enjoy her or kors on old project runway seasons more.

Oh wow i really wonder if this is true and will be next up for her.......

She's totally set. With her greater fame of PR, it will be a boost for any magazine to hire her.

^^I agree, she will have plenty of offers, personaly i would love to see her at Bazaar. :D

That would mean another magazines Fashion Director is departing and there haven't been any rumblings of that, yet...So I'm wondering what her next move will be. I know Interview is going through some changes, but I'm not sure if I could picture her there.

Hmm if this is true, reality shows have the kiss of death >_< But she's most likely moving on to bigger and better things. I wonder what the reason is.

Maybe Nina Garcia left Elle to take over US Vogue from Anna?

wow...:o
definitely a shock...
her role at elle seemed to expand recently...
i'll have to check out wwd on monday and see what's up there...
