 there we go again...
time for 'nine west' to dazzle us with designer leather items..

Is Nine West the next brand planning to get a boost from fashion designers? According to market sources, the footwear and apparel company, which is owned by Jones Apparel Group, is in active negotiations with several high-profile designers to create exclusive limited-edition accessories. Designers said to be involved in the negotiations include Vivienne Westwood, Sophia Kokosalaki and Thakoon's Thakoon Panichgul. While deals can still be weeks away, Nine West's new designer collections concept could kick off in Nine West stores as soon as this fall. It would likely focus on accessories, including handbags, shoes, belts and other small leather goods. A Nine West spokeswoman declined comment.

^thanks for posting. i'd definitely want to check out a collaboration with Vivienne Westwood. B)

sophia kokosalaki would be my fave to see, her shoes are excellent
she seems too busy discussing accessories deals recently.. first the sunglasses, now the shoes.. wonder what's next, perfume?

this sounds very interesting, i just hope we won't have to wait too long to see the results.....

this is very interesting! it would be way cool to see a westwood collaboration!

but i imagine it would be as expensive as the tara s. for easy spirit!

i know lucy!!...
those were actually pretty cute (even though they were complete knock offs-what else would you expect from subkoff)....
but those prices were not even slightly cute...

sort of defeated the whole purpose of the excercise...

i imagine that 9 west will be better at it..
since they are more of a 'fashion' company to begin with...
i expect the prices to be higher than usual . but still reasonable...
maybe comparable to the average 'coach' prices...

we'll see...
i would certainly love to see westwood do something like this...
i love all these collaborations...
it's so nice to see these designers coming down off their 'high horses' and designing for REAL people with REAL budgets...

bring it on!!...
the more the merrier imho...
maybe THIS is the REAL future of fashion...!!!...

:innocent:

Nine West could be the next mass retailer making deals with high-end designers. The footwear company is in negotiations with several top names to create limited-edition collections of shoes, belts and handbags. A spokeswoman for the brand wouldn't confirm details, but Vivienne Westwood, Sophia Kokosalaki and Thakoon Panichgul are being bandied about the rumor mill.

its true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Designer Triple Threat From Nine West
By Marc Karimzadeh
NEW YORK — In a world where designer liaisons are becoming de rigueur, Nine West is the latest to catch the collaboration bug. "Our hope is that there is a halo effect on the entire brand."

This fall, the Nine West Footwear Corp. will kick off a program of fashion collaborations with both established and up-and-coming designers. For the first three-month installment, which will launch in September, the Jones Apparel Group division has tapped designers Vivienne Westwood, Thakoon and Sophia Kokosalaki. This confirms a WWD report in January.

wow! this is great..
I can't wait to see what they come up with..
I hope the prices will be relatively affordable..

oh lord - what is this?! another trick, another gimmick, another consumerist trap. massclusivity. nine west is just about the most conservative, lowest quality shoe label for women - i am not sure if it's a good move for them. it is neither puma, nor adidas, nor h&m, there is not a single ounce of "cool" to jump start this - they don't have the type of consumer walking into the store to begin with - why would they buy the more expensive and "strange" (in their conservative customer minds) shoes? this will be a disaster...

^^ i don't know... i think it might be a good way for them to bring in a new sort of clientele...
I wouldn't have pegged easy spirit as a fashion brand either but i think that the tara subkoff collaboration probably raised its profile quite a bit

I should ask my friend.. he's been working there since last Fall.

Nine West is getting a little...cooler.They have these patent heeled sandals that are original designs but harken Louboutin, and noone can forget thier Louboutin Mumbai knockoffs, Ive seen those flats allover. Of course they still have some really hideous shoes, and thier quality is sh*t, the patent leather looks nice, but it's hard to make cheap looking patent leather.

Faust is right, noone "cool" (being someone who knows/appreciates Westwood, Kokosalaki, etc) shops at Nine West...always exceptions.

I hope that the quality of the shoes increases for these collaborations. Ninewest shoes really tend to not look very good in person.

I dunno for the price, the quality isn't THAT horrible... I definitely don't buy their more expensive shoes... and i only shop heavily at their outlet stores in Jersey.. so maybe that's why I don't object so much to Nine west

*DEAD*

I wore Nine West regularly from about 1981 (when I was 17) until the mid-1990s, when I turned 30 and started buying better-quality shoes (Italian, mainly, but some Spanish). I'd like to see how they pull this collaboration off. Brazilian-made shoes are of average quality, if that.
