For anyone who happens to attend NU, keep an eye out.
Or for tfs-ers in general who are interested.
Or for tfs-ers in general who are interested.
The course will take a seemingly simple thing - the clothes we wear everyday - and "weave" around that the personal psychological experience we all associate with our clothes, the sociological drivers behind fashion adoptions and changes, and then look at the economic systems that make our clothing consumption and disposal possible. It is not structured to make the student a designer, or even a connoisseur of design. It will provide the student with an understanding of fashion from a unique perspective and instill principles of fashion. Former students with a strong passion for fashion have applied those principles to attain interesting jobs in the industry.
The course will cover the following topics:
Capturing an image: Role of Photography / Role of the Media
Hollywood, Celebrity and Fashion
Historical Context & Industry Overview
Designers and managing the creative process
Fashion Theory
International Trade Considerations: Legal Framework
Retailing, Branding and Social Bifurcation
Ethical, sustainability and ecological considerations
