Edita is gorgeous and always great to see on a cover. But that combination of the styling and lighting gives this shot a cold, Christmas-y, tinsel-y vibe of which Txema seems to enjoy employing in a lot of his shoots, just irritates me senseless.

Marie-Agnés’ shot could have been strong for its unconventional pose. But that negative space that resembles a glaring pothole right in the middle of the shot is so irritating. Her arm outstretched, reaching up to the masthead would have improved the composition by leaps and bounds.

    Thanks StockholmFW

I was happy to see Edita but Marie-Agnès Gillot by Koto?:heart:.. it surpasses everything else! I agree the cover is a little awkward but hey, at least she's not doing an arabesque (fashion's standard request from dancers). Also looking forward to the feature on the Paris Opera Ballet.. don't really care much for them but always interested in how that's covered.

First cover is remarkable in the sense that it's not your typical French Numero cover. Like the softness and the fragments of styling, not actually knowing whether it's a dress or a coat. It's something fresh.

The second one is not for me and it's not just the pose. It's also the their obsession with black. A bit of a waste of Koto Bolofo, if you ask me.

Love Edita's cover. She's so beautiful. Would've been better without the silly outfit though.

Morocco+dance+Edita could've been such a dreamy story with someone like Vincent van de Wijngaard.. it's not horrible but everything seems a bit like a wasted opportunity...

^^^ Edita is such a heavenly presence-- and someone like Peter Lindbergh could've /would've provide that cinematic narrative that I would swoon for, with a The Sheltering Sky vibe.. And I’m fine with the styling.

But not this. I’ve come to really resent Txema for his overwrought, still-at-the-heels of Nick Knight technical surrealism that he continuously pollutes his shoots with. And instead of coming off romantic, effortless and sun-drenched like it could have been, I’m irritated that it’s giving me a Burning Man vibe instead.

^ haha worst thing you could've said, you may have ruined for me the only two shots I liked.. now instead of 'sighs, atlas mountains', I'm seeing an "instagram star"/LA-based For Love & Lemons model/part-time designer of organic cotton panties with ~feminist~ slogans sitting in the Nevada desert with her anti-capitalist statement tights. Poor Edita, she's not even on instagram.

This only works because Edita is such a talented beauty... very few other models could pull this off... eh.

Well she's no Veruschka, but she tried. I love the second cover.

And here you thought Hedi’s shots of Joaquin’s eyes at Interview Magazine was cringe-inducing…

You know, with someone like Jamie Hawkesworth— of whom I can at least appreciate the occasional potential since he’s still young, I have no patience for Txema’s overwrought, overbearing and cluttered self-claims of technical finesse since he’s already a middle-aged man… It’s not likely he’s going to simplify at this point. He’s the equivalent of some just-out-of-design-school type that thinks overwrought— ripping off Nicolas, Phoebe and Helmut into a ugly pile of Frankenstein’s Monster means complex and intellectual (like Shayne Oliver, Proenza, etc etc)...

Edita is, like, the Numero cover girl staple. Like, of ALL editions. Or am I imagining that?

Love Edita, love Txema Yeste so this is pretty great to me. I think the cover is a little pedestrian in comparison to the mood of the editorial though
